Our Landing Systems Business Unit headquartered in Troy, Ohio designs, tests and manufactures a wide range of fully integrated landing systems. As part of Landing Systems, our Landing Gear business is one of the largest suppliers of integrated landing gear systems in the world and has built its reputation on performance and innovation. The company provides landing gear for a wide range of commercial, regional, military and business aircraft applications, outfitting aircraft from most of the world’s major airframers.

A continuing focus on the use of lighter-weight materials, more electric technologies and increasingly robust systems, will help secure Landing Gear’s position as the preferred choice for new aircraft applications worldwide.

As a result of growth we are looking to add a Program Quality Engineer at our facility in Fort Worth, Texas. Reporting to the Quality Manager – Military Programs, the PQ Engineer will support all Quality requirements by providing technical support to our Customer, relative to the quality of components, sub-systems, and product-related services provided for both landing gear and wheels & brakes programs.

The primary duties and responsibilities of this role include:
  • Perform customer interface and manage flow down of customer requirements
  • Approve manufacturing documents & support the development & post-development phases of the program
  • Drive quality performance in support of UTAS and external customer goals and objectives
  • Liaise with the internal/external organizations/customers on quality issues
  • Collect and analyze data, and generate technical reports and presentations
  • Support and maintain the implementation of PPAP and key characteristics in conjunction with Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering groups
  • Coach Integrated Product Team (IPT), Operations and Supply Chain to improve quality levels on difficult to manufacture designs
  • Co-coordinate all Quality requirements as they relate to the program
  • Generate and maintain driver metrics and provide input to internal and customer meetings (CAB, Program Review, Quality Review, etc) cab is corrective action board

Qualifications The ideal candidate will have the following minimum combination of education and experience:
  • Bachelor Degree in technical or business field required
  • Minimum 5 years of related aerospace, automotive or medical quality engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated experience APQP/PPAP implementation, maintenance or upgrade.
  • Good understanding of design and machining / manufacturing methods
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills requiring minimal supervision
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office software programs
  • Strong presentation, training, technical writing, communication and change management skills
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to work constructively within teams
  • Multi-project management experience
  • Strong ability to make quality decisions while remaining customer focused
  • Must be able to verify U.S. Person Status as defined by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

In addition, the following experience is strongly preferred:
  • ASQ CQE certification.
  • Strong Six Sigma/Lean deployment and process improvement experience (ASQ Black belt preferred)
  • Excellent problem solving skills / aptitude with good analytical / SPC and interpretative skills (ASQ CEQ preferred)

Education Bachelor Degree in technical or business field required
