Description: Description About the Position: The Program Manager will partner with National Grid businesses, Shared Services and the Real Estate organization to lead large multi-project, cross company real estate programs, process improvement and change management efforts from inception to completion. The key focus is providing National Grid’s businesses and employees the ideal workspace and environment to reach their goals, enabled by focused engagement and partnership with those businesses and effective management of project/program teams.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Partner with National Grid businesses to understand and document their multiyear plans, analyze and decipher the real estate implications of their plan and develop annual plans to deliver on BU real estate strategies Work with Property team and business partners to develop and implement the necessary RE business process, work flow improvements and organizational change to propel the Property Services organization to their goal of being strategic business partners with National Grid businesses. Provide vision and oversight for the Real Estate portfolio inventory tool and reporting capability, to enable full understanding of the characteristics and performance of our corporate and operational real estate holdings, while leading the effort to deliver decisions support, strategic planning and modeling capabilities. Partner with broader real estate organization in developing and managing the Program Management Office capability within real estate. Including full transparency and reporting on NG’s real estate portfolio of projects being planned, in flight and completed. Provide key metrics on the portfolio as required by ad hoc and ongoing internal and external reporting requirements. Manage operational process activities in order to achieve high productivity of improvement programs, low costs and efficient work practices and to ensure compliance with National Grid policies and procedures. Develop relationships with internal and external stakeholders in order to obtain and share information that will benefit National Grid. Work with Real Estate and Analytics team to understand internal and external data availability and share this within the Property Services Organization. Proactively research, produce, monitor and analyze cost, policy or other information to enable analysis of key themes and trends. Keep up to date with market/regulatory developments and the energy industry. Additional Responsibilities for Band D: Band D employees are expected to deliver on key accountabilities listed above as well as those listed below. Analyze key opportunities within the organization and suggest alternative/additional areas for improvement. Be a leader of efforts that are developed out of this analysis. Analyze internal data and determine key metrics that will drive understanding and decision support of RE services and capabilities, driving awareness of our property portfolio as a resource to be used and managed wisely Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the National Grid RE portfolio, economic drivers and efficiency opportunities. Manage the delivery of significant real estate projects from initial scoping and objective development through project life cycle. Keys to success will be the engagement with occupying businesses. Develop and maintain knowledge base of the latest techniques, trends and benchmarks of world class Corporate Real Estate organizations.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Bachelor’s degree preferred in a business or engineering related area and 7+ years of related experience. Experience managing a team preferred. Can manage through ambiguity, driving efforts forward with limited information and intelligent risk taking. Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office Products (Excel, Word, Powerpoint). Proficient in project management techniques and methods. Experience of managing the work of a technical functional area/business unit and demonstrates taking specific actions to enable the team to function efficiently and effectively. Knowledge and experience in change management efforts, influencing skills at all levels and strong communication skills both verbal and written. Customer Orientation (2): Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly and undefensively and communicates customer expectations to monitor delivery and satisfaction. Attention to Detail (3): Monitors quality of others work, cehceks to ensure procedures are followed. Capability Requirements for Band D: Band D employees should be evaluated against capabilities listed below. Adapts approach, considers what is important to different audiences and tailors messages accordingly to influence senior management within the business. (I&I2) See multiple relationships, identifying several likely causes or consequences of a situation to determine the key insights for the business. (AT3) Establishes the facts by digging deeper, asking probing questions and challenging initial responses from different sources in order to build consensus on key insights and their implications amongst peers and colleagues. (IS3) Actively builds and maintains a network of relationships, internally and externally, outside of normal business contacts in order to develop understanding of the business and marketplace. (LN1)
