Job Summary

The Product Section Engineer provides assistance to the Subject Matter Experts (SME) and Lead SME by assisting in the management of Refrigeration product sections and related committees. With guidance from the Lead SME, this position supports the product section’s vision and strategic direction. Duties include conducting product section, Engineering, Standards and Regulatory committee meetings, communicating with member companies in the HVACR industry, and the development of standards.

Primary responsibilities include the following:

    • Provide specialized knowledge, occupational experience, education, and research in HVACR to enable non-subject matter decision makers to confidently address issues and take appropriate actions
    • Work productively as part of high functioning workgroup teams which have the need of specialized knowledge to create solutions
    • Communicate and interact with member companies and HVAC/R industry
    • Respond to technical inquiries from AHRI members, other manufacturers, testing laboratories, technical associations, contractors, wholesalers, and consumers
    • Develop AHRI Standards

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement of a BA/BS degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or  university  (Mechanical Engineering with an HVAC emphasis preferred)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly related professional work experience in HVACR and water heating industry, with the ability to translate that knowledge to provide expert advice and mentorship.
  • Related knowledge and experience in ASHRAE and ISO standards and committees
  • Experience in HVACR equipment laboratory testing

Familiarity with and ability to use at an intermediate level MS Office Suite and MS Outlook email

LEED, PE or EIT desired but not required.
