We are currently seeking a highly qualified Product Development Engineer to join our Smokeless Product Development team in Richmond, VA

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing support in the design and development of Smokeless Tobacco products and/or processes. The candidate will participate on a project team to develop line extensions of Moist Smokeless Tobacco (MST) and/or to develop new novel forms of Smokeless Tobacco. The work involves working on a pilot scale process, traveling to US Smokeless Tobacco Company’s manufacturing facilities to conduct full scale factory trials and/or support FDA related projects

Specific accountabilities include:

• Developing new product concepts and/or line extensions for consumer evaluation
• Developing process and product specifications
• Developing the final product design and process requirements for Smokeless line extensions and new product concepts
• Conducting factory trials, and/or finalizing the process and product specifications of a Smokeless line extension or new product concept
• Completing regulatory requirements to meet FDA related work streams for Smokeless products

Qualifications include:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science is required
• 1+ year of relevant experience
• This position requires use of smokeless tobacco products to assess the sensory characteristics; therefore it is open to current moist smokeless tobacco users only
• Experience in the areas of tobacco production, tobacco processing, or tobacco blending is preferred
• Experience working in a lab and pilot scale process environment preferred
• Consumer Packaged Goods industry experience is preferred
• Highly motivated, able to work autonomously and in a group setting to learn and apply new skills and technologies
• Able to travel (~25%) to support work related activities
