Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Set the strategy, methodologies and policies for the Global Procurement’s business planning process, working with the GPLT and other colleagues across Global Procurement, to translate a 3-5 year functional strategy into both a short and long term plan that considers functional KPIs, resource needs, and budget, vendor and spend tracking. Oversee the Global Procurement ‘in-year planning’ process, ensuring that the function performs to optimum levels through the creation of fit-for-purpose resource and delivery plans and ensuring effective resource allocation (i.e., buying pool management) facilitates the success of teams across the function. In the spirit of continuous improvement and performance excellence, to keep abreast of developments in the field of business planning and ensure that best-practice is reflected in National Grid’s Procurement function’s business planning process. To lead on tracking and spending from a global perspective working with colleagues and customers in the business to ensure all spending is tracked and planned benefits realised. Oversee the consolidation of an accurate global view of National Grid’s tracking and spend; providing a full and clear-cut picture of the value driven, benefits, and progress through best-in-class spend analysis, which helps drive decision making at the highest levels of the Procurement function and business customers. Oversee the management (reporting and consolidation) of the Global Procurement functional budget (c. £24/annum), working closely with Finance Business Partners to monitor and report on progress against budget and provide transparency on costs and risks to drive functional leadership decision making. Work alongside the Operating Playbook team and act as the liaison for Global Procurement; supporting functions in the development of their plans for the operating playbook and understanding and taking a view of how Global Procurement can help them achieve their plans. To support end-to-end supply chain efficiency, introducing and ongoing management of vendor performance. Oversee a fit for purpose vendor performance management process, ensuring that Category Managers, Contract Managers, and other colleagues across Global Procurement have an accurate view on how vendors are performing to ensure volume leverage opportunities are maximised, risks are mitigated and maximum value is driven from relationships. [ n.b. the role will interface with Supplier Relationship Managers to ensure that strategically significant vendor performance is monitored in a consistent fashion. Lead a highly motivated, innovative and value-focused team, developing talent and a performance management culture that drives value through employee engagement and successfully meets or exceeds all strategic objectives for the area. Provide support to the overall SoF Strategic Supply Chain programme and business wide change activity, role modelling new ways of working and supporting the delivery of elements of the programme to ensure capability is improved and value added to the business.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Strong relationship building skills and ability to interact credibly and genuinely with senior stakeholders (including up to Board level). Experience managing (directly/indirectly) functional budgets. Experience translating long-term strategies into operating plans (including developing KPIs, resource allocation, etc.). Bachelor degree or equivalent.
