Sensors & Integrated Systems (SIS) segment of UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) Vermont has a position for an experienced Engineering Designer/Drafter within the Drafting Services organization. The Designer/Drafter will technical expertise in performing component placement and routing for high-density packaged circuit card assemblies. The printed circuit cards will use the latest technology in BGA's, SMT, flex, and routing rules, in compliance with IPC standards. Candidate will be required to work both independently and as part of a team. This position requires a motivated and customer focused individual who can function in a dynamic multi-disciplined environment

Duties include:

•Design circuit boards from conceptualization to production.
•Create and load design rules.
•Create and load library symbols and footprints to IPC standards
•Perform design verification.
•Generate all artwork and support files required to fabricate a printed circuit board.
•Manage parts lists.
•Process engineering changes.
•Perform task prioritization to meet schedules and quality requirements.
•Interact with other functional groups (e.g. engineering, manufacturing and vendors) on routine technical matters.

  • Experience with Mentor Graphics DxDesigner or Cadence.
  • •Experience with CAD software such as AutoCAD or NX
  • •Good verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • •Ability to understand the manufacturability of designs
  • •Ability to plan and prioritize work to meet schedules and quality requirements
  • •Must be willing to work overtime when required to meet customer milestones
  • •Must display excellent teamwork and problem solving skills
  • •Excellent verbal/written communication and organizational skills
  • •Good computer skills in MS Office applications such as Word and Excel
  • •Perform work with limited supervision

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional specialized courses or short-term training (one year or less) with minimum of 3 years experience in circuit board design OR Associates Degree, Technical or other post high school training (two years duration) with minimum of 1 year experience.
