The United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) invites interested and qualified individuals to for the newly defined position of Principal Research Engineer, Ceramic Materials.

The Advanced Materials Group at United Technologies Research Center is seeking a principal researcher / engineer in ceramic materials, with experience in the following areas: (1) ceramic matrix composites, (2) environmental barrier coatings for ceramic matrix composites, and (3) protective coatings for high temperature applications. Prior experience and knowledge with powder processing, slurry formulation and preparation, hot pressing, materials characterization including particle size analysis, density and viscosity measurement, and commonly used high temperature and/or vacuum equipment is required.
The candidate will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment, by developing and ing new materials and processes, to develop advanced technologies and new products for all UTC business units. Excellent communication and team building skills are essential for this position.


Candidate must demonstrate track record of innovation and capability of generating new ideas and maturing new technologies to high technology readiness level. Experience in customer interaction and project leadership is required. Experience in proposal writing and establishing external collaboration is highly desired.

Qualifications

Ph.D. with at least ten-years post-degree work experience in an industrial research environment.

US Person required for this position.

Education

Ph.D. degree in Materials Science & Engineering or relevant areas
