Plant Equipment Operator B (Inside) operates most of the plant systems and equipment associated with the boilers including sifters, ash extractors, ash system grates, hydraulic systems as directed by the Control Room Operator and the Shift Supervisor in a safe and skillful manner, including pumps, cranes, and mobile equipment.  Performs necessary cleaning, washdowns and housekeeping to assure a safe working environment

Plant Equipment Operator B ((Outside) operates most of the plant systems and equipment associated with the Ash and Precipitator Systems, as instructed by the Control Room Operator and the Shift Supervisor in a skillful and safe manner, including pumps cranes, and mobile equipment.  Performs necessary cleaning, washdowns and  housekeeping to assure a safe working environment.

Performs routine rounds in areas assigned by supervision.Dir ectly responsible for maintaining fly ash flow in Superheater hoppers and flow tube, if bridged they must be air lanced and manual rap of flue tube rapping pads to establish flow.

Performs lubrication, inspection and routine maintenance of plant equipment as required during plant operation.

Prepares systems and equipment for maintenance, repair and replacement by implementing the Safety Tag out Lockout as directed by the Control Room Operator.

Performs daily, weekly, and monthly Preventive Maintenance as directed by the Shift Supervisor and the Control Room Operator. 

Performs Front End Loader, Fork Lift and Bob Cat inspection prior to use and maintians their cleanliness. 

Responsible for emptying totes in areas around assigned equipment.

Participates in all Safety and Training meetings as required.

As time permits assist other employees in the performance of their duties. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.

Directly responsible for maintaining fly ash flow in the Precipitator hoppers and the Cyclones, if bridged they must be rodded out to establish flow.

 Responsible for the cleaning of the shuttle, main bypass incline and the bypass conveyer belts including the rollers, lower and upper impact rollers, counter balance weights and the area surrounding the inclines shuttle and the bypass conveyer including the discharge chutes when on the diverter and the bypass conveyer belt. 

Responsible for emptying the grizzly area, maintaining ash flow and order in the ash building after Heavy Equipment Operator leaves for the day. 

Performs front end loader, Fork Lift and Bobcat inspection prior to use and maintains their cleanliness. 

Prepares systems and equipment for maintenance, repair and replacement by implementing the Safety Tag out Lockout as directed by the Control Room Operator.

 


High School diploma / GED
Minimum 1 year work experience in an industrial environment
Ability to tolerate working outdoors for extended in summer heat and winter cold
Basic mechanical aptitude
Strong problem solving ability a plus
Use of personal protective equipment, including respiratory equipment for certain tasks
Enthusiam and a can-do work ethic
Willingness to work overtime based on needs of facility (typically 20%)
Adaptability to a rotating shift
Position is a union position -candidate will be expected to join IUOE Local 68 following a 30 day probationary period
NJ Boiler License (HP 'Black' seal) not required, but desirable and required for promotion to next level position
Must work well with others
