We are seeking a Operations and Engineering Lead

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Plan and direct engineering and technical resources for customer facilities support requirements, coordinating, as required, with work performed in other internal and external organizations\.

+ Provide leadership and tactical planning for execution of projects and applies engineering or other technical knowledge to achieve project objectives and deliverables\.

+ Use engineering judgment in negotiating with customers and program managers to ensure that resources are available to accomplish the work\.

+ Use engineering judgment, built upon a strong engineering and technical background, to identify potential facilities operational risks, develops risk mitigation strategies and corrective actions, and recommends risk acceptance or avoidance for facilities operations\.

+ Negotiate with the customer on matters of customer requirements and limitations\.

+ Recommend addition, expansion, or discontinuance of projects\.

+ Initiate, design, develop, execute, and evaluate new processes, products, or systems for implementing and integrating optimal facilities solutions\.


+ Bachelors degree in any Engineering Discipline, Architecture, Facilities/Building Management, Business Management/Administration plus 5 years of experience in facilities/building Management; or Masters degree in any Engineering Discipline, Architecture, Facilities/Building Management, Business Management/Administration plus 2 years of experience in facilities/building Management; or equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience\.

+ Experience with project development and execution; and maintenance planning and execution related to the operation of buildings or infrastructure systems, and related support facilities\.


+ Experience in leading dynamic teams with matrixed personnel to support complex operations, maintenance, and /or project activities\.

+ Masters degree in any Engineering discipline, Architecture, Facilities/Building Management

+ Experience working in a Facilities Management organization; Project Management, including Project management Professional \(PMP\) Certification, experience in lifecycle asset management, energy conservation and system sustainment planning for buildings or infrastructure systems

+ Demonstrated ability to apply expertise and experience in one or more engineering disciplines to make judgments crucial to enable the delivery of mission requirements and infrastructure operations\. Coordinates Facilities Engineering and Operations resources to determine the most effective integrated solution\.

+ Soft skills and technical skills that will enable the candidate to be the center representative on corporate or divisional task forces related to management and operation of infrastructure systems\. The successful candidate will lead and guide activities within our infrastructure programs, acts as project or business operation point of contact with customers\. Makes presentations and proposals and represents the organization on interdisciplinary team\.

+ Ability to work independently, under general direction, and report upon completion of assigned duties and projects\. Ability to translate guidance in terms of results expected into program results\.

+ Ability to team with other administrative support personnel, strategic planners, operations engineers, project execution teams, and maintenance personnel and wide variety of other professional staff to meet objectives\.

+ Expected to demonstrate creativity in how work is performed and in addressing work processes\.

Department Description:

The Infrastructure Operations Department performs Mechanical, Electrical, and Civil Engineering; and Facilities Geographic Information Systems management for facilities and infrastructure systems\. The department supports the technical operations, maintenance, and engineering for Sandia buildings and site infrastructure systems which include paving, parking, gates, turnstiles, fencing, underground water and water treatment, sanitary sewer, storm drain, overhead and underground high voltage power, natural gas, and landscapes\. The department provides the technical expertise to institute facilities standards, increase safety, improve reliability, enhance performance and reduce life cycle costs of buildings and infrastructure systems and provides excavation/penetration permits, utility identification, and mapping services using GPS and GPR technologies\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
