We are seeking a Nuclear Analysis Engineer to formulate and implement Material Control & Accountability \(MC&A\) requirements with regards to performing measurements of accountable nuclear materials \(ANMs\) within the Nuclear Material Management/Material Control & Accountability programs at SNL\.



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Develop and implement MC&A Program plans and procedures\.

+ Determine category and attractiveness of nuclear material\.

+ Provide timely customer support by performing measurements of SNM\.

+ Maintain MC&A equipment and corresponding calibration records for equipment\.

+ Participate in program self\-assessments and external audits when as requested\.

+ Support Lifecycle management of ANMs includes supporting line customers in the acquisition of nuclear materials necessary to upkeep current requirements or launch new mission requests\.

+ Intermittently assess the continuing essential need for nuclear materials in the inventory\.

+ Disposition material surplus\.

+ Compiles and submits annual nuclear material holdings assessment for the Laboratory in accordance with DOE O 410\.2, Management of Nuclear Materials\.



Selected applicants will be required to pass a Job Placement Assessment before beginning the job to ensure that they can perform the essential physical requirements, with or without accommodations\.



Required:



+ Bachelor's degree in a relevant STEM discipline plus five or more years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in a relevant STEM discipline plus two or more years of relevant experience; or a doctorate in a relevant STEM discipline plus three years of relevant experience\.

+ Experienced with calibration and measurement methodologies\.

+ Thorough knowledge of and experience with designing, planning, and executing projects\.

+ Active DOE/DOD security clearance\.

+ Passion for learning and continually expanding technical expertise\.

+ Thorough knowledge of and applied experience with scientific, mathematical, and engineering methods\.

+ Ability to work independently and in a team environment showing initiative and leadership\.

+ Strong interpersonal and communications skills working with a diverse team ranging from skilled laborers to PhD engineers/scientist\.

+ Demonstrated ability to work and team with other sites and the site field office to manage the disposition of strategic materials\.

+ Knowledge of DOE Nuclear Material practices and requirements \(such as DOE O 474\.2, 410\.2 and related DOE Standards\)\.

To support the mission, multiple Sandia organizations acquire, use, and possess accountable nuclear materials\. The U\.S\. Department of Energy \(DOE\) requires all sites that possess accountable nuclear materials to establish and maintain nuclear material management \(NMM\) and Material Control & Accountability \(MC&A\) programs\. Nuclear Material Management programs are designed to ensure that nuclear materials are managed as valuable assets, used appropriately, and disposed of properly when no longer needed\. MC&A programs are designed to deter and detect theft and diversion of nuclear material by both outside and inside adversaries\. The Nuclear Material Management/MC&A Department develops and implements effective NMM and MC&A programs that are compliant with DOE/NNSA requirements, while supporting line organizations mission objectives\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance to start\.



Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted L\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.
