The Nacelle & Externals Division of FALCEN (Fan, Low compressor, Externals and Nacelle Module Center) is looking for strong Structural Integration Engineer candidates to join our team as we grow to support the expanding Next Generation Product Family (NGPF) Geared Turbofan programs. The Nacelle organization is responsible for engine externals, nacelle, engine mounts and engine build up (EBU) components, integrating these products with the engine, pylon, and airframe.

The Structural Integration Lead will represent Nacelle group in all phases of the product development cycle, starting from concept optimization, preliminary design, detailed design, validation, certification, to post certification support.

Key activities include:

  • Provide Technical oversight to the structural integration team to work on
  • Work with Airframer to develop technical requirement/specifications for Nacelle Structures, flow down the requirement to suppliers, and negotiate agreement on means of compliance.
  • Lead the structural integration activity to develop load release packages for preliminary design, detailed design and certification. These activities included finite element model interface control/output request, finite element model check, loads comparison, resolve component loads, etc.
  • Coordinate with SD&CI (System Design and Component Integration) structural integration group on loads release schedule and loads release to supplier.
  • Work with supplier to define the engine/flight test requirement, develop the Test Job Request, witness certification test as required.
  • Review supplier’s submission of FAR25 qualification/certification plan, test procedure, analysis/similarity/test report, and secure the final approval from airframer and certification authority.
  • Field support and conduct failure investigation as required.
  • Provide mentoring to less experienced engineers in the nacelle group on technical capability.
  • Support the Nacelle Structures Discipline Chief on ESW (Engineering Standard Work) development and continuous improvement, and ESW proficiency advancement for the team.

Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • BS Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
  • Minimum 15 years of technical experience with aero structures (EBU, nacelles, or aircraft systems design a plus), including requirements definition, loads management, structural analysis, and part 25 certification
  • U.S. Citizenship required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • MS a plus
  • DER experience preferred, current DER status a plus

Education
  • BS Mechanical Engineering or Aeronautical Engineering
  • MS a plus
