The Energy Innovation group encompasses many different disciplines required for making energy technologies a reality; new equipment designs (mechanical/electrical engineering), reliability assessments (material engineering, mechanical engineering), and test design, setup, and execution. Your job would be to work with engineers and scientists design, build and test various experimental apparatuses. This will require experience with machining, pressure systems, and data acquisition, along with a curiosity and desire to work on complex problems.


+ Bachelor of various engineering/science degrees (mechanical or chemical) or equivalent experience
+ Experience with utilization of instrumentation to measure and observe phenomena;
+ Experience in laboratory operations (e.g., set-up/maintenance/ownership);
+ Demonstrated ability and commitment to perform complex, hazardous operations safely, specifically pressure or vacuum systems.
+ Ability to work in a team environment with staff, technologists, support personnel, and vendors;
+ Able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance.


+ Examples of written documentation (e.g., work planning and control documents, lab operating procedures, test plans, or memos and reports);
+ Experience with troubleshooting systems, processes, and hardware;
+ Ability to read drawings, layouts, and other specifications;
+ Demonstrated abilities with laboratory software, computer controlled test equipment, and basic proficiency in programming/software code (e.g., LabView);
+ Experience in fabrication such as basic machining (lathe or mills) and/or welding
+ Ability to take general direction and implement technical activities without detailed guidance or oversight;
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills;

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.
