Researches, plans, analyses, designs, and directs the process to develop mechanical and electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties
  • Researches and analyses customer specifications to determine feasibility of designs or applications.
  • Designs products or systems, such as aircraft tripod jacks, aircraft axle jacks, aircraft service carts, fluid dispensers, and other aircraft ground support equipment.
  • Writes service manuals for company's products.
  • Prepares functional test reports for new products and supervises preproduction testing to verify integrity of products. Analyses test data and reports to determine if designs meet functional and performance specifications.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing and assembly departments to provide engineering support and follow up of new products through final assembly.
  • Evaluates existing designs and products and recommends design modifications to improve products and reduce manufacturing costs.
  • Performs engineering analysis using solid engineering practices, theory and techniques. The use of computer is required to aid in these calculations.
  • Prepares or directs the making of engineering drawings including layouts, schematics, detailed drawings, and top assembly drawings using Solidworks CAD equipment/software.
  • Confers with outside technical experts and vendors to obtain technical answers to solve problems at hand. 
 Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) in Engineering or related area of knowledge 
  • Three to five years related experience (manufacturing experience a strong plus) 
  • Two to three years’ work experience utilizing Solidworks CAD software 
  • Experience with Fluid power, electrical design (digital and PLC knowledge a plus) and electromechanical systems
  • Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC) and Allan Bradley PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) a plus




  • Ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be proficient in reading blue prints

Physical Demands

  • Frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls. 
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. 
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
