Mechanical Design Chief responsible for supporting Compression Systems including Fan, LPC, and HPC areas of the engine to manage the Product Review process, support development of Engineering Standard Work, and provide expert knowledge to Mechanical Design Engineers via mentoring. Serve as Module Center Engineering team member for managing Mechanical Design Discipline with emphasis on CSE-CSMC mechanical design strategy. Provide guidance for developing mechanical arrangements that result in products and components that are low cost and competitively superior. Provide proactive technical guidance in the resolution of module level technical problems and issues. As a member of the Design Technical Discipline Steering Team, develop and manage Mechanical Design tools, methodology and criteria, and their connection with analytical design systems and product data management systems. Maintain awareness of emerging trends in mechanical design processes and product technologies.

Qualification: The successful candidate will have at least 15 years of design experience. The preferred candidate will have experience in the design of Fan, LPC and HPC components. Candidate must demonstrate the following attributes: An understanding of the Design Process and its interaction within the overall requirements of the business. A clear substantiated ability to be successful in independent endeavors and to work complex tasks with minimum supervision. Highly developed interpersonal, leadership & teaming skills. Superior communication skills: written, verbal, and presentation. Ability to develop and present material to cross-functional teams and upper levels of Engineering Management. Proficiency with Mechanical Design tools, including NX, TeamCenter, ETFF.
In addition to the above criteria, the ideal candidate will also have the following advanced fan specific design skills: Commercial Fan Module development experience with meeting bird strike and fan blade out FAA requirements, ability to understand and coordinate analysis with other groups including engine mounts, nacelle, externals, and other interfaces. A general understanding of ice buildup and shedding is a plus.

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required with major in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering. Masters degree in Engineering or Business Administration is desirable.
