We have an immediate opening for a Materials/Process Engineer II in Santa Fe Springs, CA.

The Materials/Process Engineer in the Program Engineering group is responsible for monitoring the manufacturing processes for carbon/carbon composite aircraft brakes, qualifying new technology or process changes for production, and supporting efforts to identify and resolve process issues that impact the product. The Engineer will also identify and support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at improving product performance or reducing cost and variation. They work directly with all levels of staff from production floor to senior leadership to ensure the product meets all necessary quality standards while maintaining the site’s cost and delivery goals.

Essential Functions
  • Observe and follow all environmental, health and safety procedures.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures
  • Complete all training as assigned and in the time allotted
  • Ongoing production monitoring and troubleshooting of problems associated with assigned aircraft programs
  • Management of complex, long-term technical projects involving multi-site and interdepartmental coordination to meet project goals
  • Data mining and analysis in support of root cause investigations and justification or validation of changes.
  • Write detailed technical reports and deliver presentations
  • Write and maintain product & process specifications
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at cost reduction or process improvement
  • Liaison among multiple carbon sites, Troy headquarters, and other departments regarding support/information associated with their aircraft programs

Qualification: Required
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience with data mining, manipulation, and analysis
  • Skilled in technical writing and presentation delivery
  • Must be able to verify U.S. Person Status as defined by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)

  • Experience in the aerospace industry
  • Experience working with composite materials.
  • Experience with formal statistical/CI tools (Lean, ACE, 6-sigma, etc.)
  • Project management experience

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering – Chemical, Materials, or Mechanical preferred
