Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced jet engines is looking for dedicated, highly motivated and experienced Structures Engineers for the Fans / LPC/ Externals / Nacelles (FaLCEN) Module Center Engineering team with demonstrated technical leadership skills to become a part of our organization.

This position requires a strong background in Dynamics, Vibrations and Fatigue & Fracture Mechanics. Specific knowledge in Stage Vibrations and/or rotor lifing is an advantage.

The Fans /LPC / Externals / Nacelles (FaLCEN) Module Center Engineering is responsible for design, development and production & field support of all FaLCEN products at every stage of the product life cycle. Structures Engineers are responsible for developing detailed component models; perform required analyses and response predictions for military, commercial and advanced programs including engine, rig and component testing. Structures Engineers also process test data to support model calibration, engine or component validation, or RCCA investigations for development or production testing or field support. Frequent interaction with design, system structural engineers, applied mechanics and project engineers is required.

As a FaLCEN Senior Structures Engineer, responsibilities will include:

  • Perform a wide range of component level detailed structural analyses in support of commercial and military aircraft gas turbine engine programs.
  • Prescribe design requirements to help assure engine products meet customer requirements for vibration, durability and other job ticket requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver presentation materials to internal management in formal design reviews and other settings.
  • Work directly with CIPT to assure structures requirements are understood and properly implemented in component designs, process development and production.
  • Prescribe instrumentation requirements for test measurement parameters.
  • Monitor responses during engine testing, prepare assessments of test results, troubleshoot engine validation, production or field problems and recommend solutions.
  • Good problem solving skills and enthusiasm to learn
Assist in the development of structures methodology and process improvements that enhance product quality and reduce product cost.

As a member of the FaLCEN structures team, the Senior Engineer shall develop Engineering Standard Work (ESW) design tools, methodology and criteria, and their connection with analytical systems and maintain awareness of emerging trends in structures processes and product technologies.

Specific responsibilities related to ESW development include:

- Continuous development of structures swimlane, making recommendations for proficiency and training requirements including content integrity and periodic Total Productive Maintenance
- Enable input of standards/formats into ESW for future program usage


Qualifications Basic Qualifications:
  • B.S. required in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or related discipline
  • 5+ years of Structure/Analytical experience
  • U.S. Citizenship Required
Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.S. in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or related discipline
  • 3 + years experience in ANSYS
  • Familiarity with PW LCF and crack growth lifing tools
Education
  • B.S. required in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or related discipline
  • M.S. in Mechanical engineering, Aerospace engineering, or related discipline preferred
