Job Summary



Assesses manufacturing documents and results of analytical tests to determine if product specifications are met\. Conducts tests and measurements throughout the stages of production to determine control over applicable variables\. Services, troubleshoots, and solves production problems with processes or equipment already in operation\. Ensures processes and procedures are in compliance with regulations



Primary Job Duties



Ensures that manufacturing operations are conducted in a safe and effective manner and that products meet defined quality standards\. Maintains production routers, work instructions, and operating procedures\. May write or assist in writing product or equipment specifications\. Performs high\-complexity operations and tests\. Assesses manufacturing documents and results of analytical tests to determine if product specifications are met\. Leads and supports continuous improvement initiatives\. Applies critical thinking to the analysis and solution of problems with manufacturing processes, equipment uptime, materials, and other issues that impede manufacturing flow



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



Knowledge of operations, methods, and practices in a manufacturing environment\. Knowledge and experience in processes, product development, or manufacturing operation activities and required support\. Knowledge of a manufacturing engineering discipline related to the assigned area of responsibility\. Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, and schematics\. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team\.



Required:



1\. The successful candidate must have demonstrated proficiency in the usage of Pro/E CAD/CAM software\.



2\. Possess a sound basic understanding of models based machining and manufacturing processes\.



3\. A solid background and understanding in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance \(GD&T\) as per ASME Y14\.5\.



The candidate must work well in a dynamic team environment and have good communication skills\. Also required is the ability to collect, organize, and document inspection results\. Once documented the candidate must be able to analyze the inspection data by applying problem solving and troubleshooting skills\.



Desired:



1\.Experience with Nuclear Weapons component design or manufacturing\.



2\.Experience with Sandia ES&H documentation processes, including familiarity with updated Work Planning &Controls processes\.



3\.Familiarity with lean six sigma approaches to manufacturing and/or inspection\.



4\.Knowledge of Sandias 9900000 specification as well as practiced conformance to QC\-1 requirements\.



5\.Familiar with Vault Type Room requirements and handling of classified material\.



6\.Experience working with the Image PRIME application and SNL Design Definition tools\.



Department Description:



This department is in place for the research and development of prototype machined hardware components made on industry standard milling machines, lathes, wire EDM machines, plunge EDM machines, grinders, buffers, saws, routers, and bead blaster\. Hardware is typically made from a variety of industry standard inert metals, polymers, and composites materials\. In rare cases hazardous materials will be handled with the guidance from industrial hygiene and waste management with controls in place\.
