The Manufacturing Engineer position is assigned to our Weekend shift. Pratt & Whitney, a recognized leading producer of the world's most advanced commercial and military turbine engines, is seeking a talented Manufacturing Engineer to support our Connecticut based Hot Section Module Center manufacturing engineering organization. The manufacturing engineer will support cooled turbine airfoil parts manufacturing at Pratt & Whitney East Hartford, with interaction at our satellite facilities in New York and Pennsylvania. They are scheduled to work Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 6:00am to 6:30pm and as expected to come in on other days as needed.

Typical l duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide focused & effective manufacturing engineering support for 2nd shift production operations.
  • Effective communication of technical opportunities with the 1st shift manufacturing engineers, production operations and materials work force.
  • Partial ownership of one or more of the following processes: Grind, EDM/LASER drilling, airflow/waterflow inspection, CMM & non-contact inspection (optical, structured light, LASER, thermal imaging)
  • Identify & implement shop floor process improvements that increase output and reduce overall costs, including automation and robotics.
  • Assist in creating and maintaining shop floor work instructions (including specifications, engineering changes, process control, and tooling definition/requirements)
  • Review process yields and rates, and make suggestions for improvement
  • Participate on manufacturing reviews, transitions, new product introduction reviews, and manufacturing standard work improvements
  • Evaluate tooling, special test and inspections concepts and equipment
  • Participate in lean manufacturing initiatives that support continuous process improvement
