CTSC (Connecticut Stators and Components) is an aftermarket repair business located on P&W’s East Hartford campus. The business specializes in the repair and overhaul of engine components including combustion chambers, stators, vane clusters, honeycomb shroud segments and hollow fan blades. It serves Pratt & Whitney internally and a variety of global external customers.

As a CTSC Aftermarket Repair Cell Leader, the incumbent will report to the Operations Manager and have leadership responsibilities for a workforce consisting of hourly bargaining unit employees. This position is specifically focused on the supervision of hourly employees on first (1st) shift. The successful candidate will play a key role in the tactical and strategic direction of their day to day operations within their department.
Typical responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assuring CTSC business unit is meeting schedule and cost commitments without compromising safety of the work force or product quality.
  • Maintaining customer satisfaction, quality, on time deliver, financial, safety, and other metrics for the cell.
  • Conducting daily Toolbox/Start up meetings.
  • Conducting investigations when an employee is injured.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to implement turn time reduction, cost savings, and environmental & health enhancements.
  • Work with the cell process engineer to identify and improve processes using ACE and Lean Strategies to enhance quality, decrease process cycle time and reduce operational costs.
  • Participate in driving cell to ACE Gold.
  • Strong focus and commitment to meeting customer needs. Individual is responsible for driving quick resolution of safety, quality, and technical issues.
  • Ensure network Engine Centers and external customers’ needs are met and be the focal point for schedule related questions.
  • Manage all aspects of assigned hourly workforce: (Time & attendance, time off, rewards, vouchering, training, communications, and etcetera).
  • Coach employees to develop a motivated, effective team.
  • Demonstrate commitment to the EH&S program by complying with all policies and procedures, completing all required training, and supporting all applicable committee activities.
Responsibilities include
  • Allocating work and assigning manpower
  • Strong leadership focus on continuous improvement, FOD, Quality, and EH&S initiatives
  • Provide leadership and direction with emphasis on team building through weekly toolbox meetings, monthly All Hands meetings, effective communications, and in developing an efficient team that is responsive to production requirements and change
  • Establish work schedules taking into account customer requirements, resource availability, and other priorities
  • Work proactively to address issues and engage the workforce in achieving cell goals
  • Communicate to peers requirements at supporting process to ensure smooth process flow
  • Hold employees accountable while maintaining a key working relationship
  • Ensure World Class safety culture is maintained and respond to all EH&S requirements promptly
  • Ensure full involvement in ACE continuous improvement initiatives - utilize ACE tools to improve production, performance, and reduce scrap, rework, and repair.
  • Control quality, productivity and process flow to meet COPQ requirements while ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.
