The Manager - Systems Optimization/Propulsion Concepts plays a critical role in the innovation of advanced propulsion concepts and systems for Pratt & Whitney (P&W). As part of the Advanced Programs & Technology (AP&T) team, Manager will provide leadership across a team of specialists that utilize Multi-Disciplinary Analysis and Optimization (MDAO) tools to assist in the creation and evaluation of next-generation propulsion systems. The Manager will work with P&W internal organizations to develop the vision, configurations and requirements for future propulsion systems across a wide range of commercial and military aircraft applications. The Systems Optimization team works closely with hardware and discipline groups in the organization and evaluates these system-level concepts in terms of system performance, design trades and a variety of engine metrics.

The role provides visibility to external government and airframer customers on select applications. It is an exciting time at P&W. The Manager frequently engage with P&W leadership and is uniquely positioned to influence the business strategies that P&W will use to maintain its leadership position in aerospace.
Qualifications Candidates require a minimum of ten (10) years of industry and academic experience in the area of [1] advanced flight vehicle concepts, [2] propulsion system concepts, [3] design, performance or system optimization or [4] other related fields. Familiarity with propulsion systems, air vehicle sizing, engine systems and performance integration is key to the role. A strong analytical background and familiarity with MDAO methods and system engineering are desired qualifications. Knowledge and demonstrated experience with the following software systems: ISIGHT or ModelCenter, CATIA or UG/NX, MATLAB and Visual Basic will benefit the candidate.

Security clearance or the ability to secure clearance are enablers but not a prerequisite for the role.

Education A B.S. Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is the minimum requirement. Candidates with an advanced degree in Engineering and/or research specialization are encouraged to .
