Description: Description About the Position: Plans, manages and implements asset management investment strategy in order to fully achieve all budget, portfolio goals and strategic objectives through collaboration with functional groups, providing exceptional direction and guidance to stakeholders, affording full visibility of the plan and progress against plan to all levels and facilitating timely intervention to enable optimal budgetary, resource and asset decisions in support of our customers. To develop, plan, schedule and monitor the delivery of maintenance and capital work across the area in order to provide operational support to the delivery of the Gas maintenance and Construction programs.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Responsible for the end to end delivery of the annual work plan in an efficient and safe manner. Identifies and assigns the appropriate resource pool (internal or external) that will execute the work plan and make early recommendations on mismatches between resource availability and work load. Delivers metrics and reporting capabilities to clearly demonstrate project and program status. Develop and report on cost metrics - unit of work – by resource type and activity. Insure performance of field forces completion of short cycle work. Drive standardization of processes and approaches of reporting operational activities. Manage the development and implementation of cost effective processes and solutions to meet business requirements ensuring existing and potential technology investments are exploited to their full extent. Provide professional, high quality and reliable service, delivered in a consistent way using efficient processes with a ‘local feel’ that permeates to and from the field. Develop and maintain positive relationships with key stakeholders. Lead specific governance groups with regards to work and resource planning progress and achievement of goals. Collaborate with Finance, Project Management and Asset Management to compile appropriate project information for review and assessment to enable corrective action to be taken to correct the plan to the budget. Participate in the development of long term corporate strategy that will position the company for future mergers and acquisitions. Consistently demonstrate support for the National Grid core values. Ensure all team members receive appropriate communications, clear objectives, training, coaching and development, motivation, regular performance feedback and recognition of achievements. Actively develop own skill set to achieve a full match with the target competencies for this role and for continuing professional development. Actively support and implement initiatives which support Inclusion & Diversity. Coordinate with the Resource Planning Organization to integrate monthly and yearly forecasted work plans with available resource capacities. Monitor and review work undertaken across all Gas maintenance programs in order to ensure appropriate use of materials, tools, equipment or resources and adherence to schedules. Utilize established financial systems to track budgets and highlight variances across the Gas maintenance and Construction programs in order to manage and control specific cost variables. Research primary data sources and track resource utilisation and performance metrics in order to enable analysis of key themes and trends regarding productivity, efficiencies, unit costs, capital versus expense, and areas for improvement. Promote and implement utilisation and scheduling best practices across field personnel in order to ensure all work is compliant with National Grid policies and regulatory requirements. Manage the day to day relationship and work assignments of both internal resources and contracted service providers (where applicable), including interpretation and application of established contract/service level agreements to ensure efficient and effective work completion. Work with other business units within the Gas maintenance and Construction area and across the business, to translate business objectives into well defined plans and delivery strategies. Manage the day to day information and special requests of the Jurisdictional representatives’ and other business areas in order to understand their requirements and deliver appropriate solutions, in line with National Grid policies and processes. Provides up to date analysis and regulatory information in order to ensure regulators are kept up to date with relevant National Grid programs in the Gas maintenance and construction area. Ensure the required emergency response and resource plans are in place in the event of an emergency so that the otential loss of life, damage and interruption of service are minimised.

Previous supervisory experience in operational field activity is preferred.

Makes self fully available for the customer, especially when they are going through a critical period. Demonstrates an energetic and enthusiastic manner and the ability to add value to the customer. 10+ years experience in construction project management and portfolio management, preferably within the utilities industry. Experience with cost estimating. Primavera. 7+ years leadership experience, preferably at Manager/Director level or equivalent.
