Description: Description About the Position: To oversee and ensure the timely and effective maintenance of National Grid’s fleet so that fit for purpose vehicles are available as and when required by National Grid Operations.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Direct the efforts and resources of the fleet maintenance team in order to ensure safety, reliability and security of National Grid’s fleet consistent with company goals, objectives and policies in full compliance industry regulations. Analyze maintenance plans and other cost drivers against industry benchmarks, identifying how different scenarios may impact business and performance metrics in order to provide input for an optimal vehicle utilization plan. Manage fleet maintenance schedules and plans in order to achieve high productivity, low costs and efficient work practices and to ensure compliance with National Grid policies and procedures. Challenge existing ways of working and continuously seek ways to improve fleet conditions in order to drive greater efficiencies within the fleet maintenance group. Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal colleagues and client to anticipate and provide for fleet related business needs. Promote the philosophy of safe team work to ensure optimal working environment and minimize risk for all staff. Develop fleet maintenance activities to achieve optimal fleet life and performance concurrent with company/department KPIs. Ensure compliance with all environmental, safety, corporate and governmental fleet related regulations.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required:
Bachelor’s Degree mechanicalengineering or related field or equivalent experience. O ther professionalqualification or Associate’s Degree in automotive technology, includingspecialized training in hydraulics, electronics, fiber optics, and computerscience is desirable. 7+ years of in-depthexperience within in the transportation or heavy equipment industry. Thorough understandingof key business drivers, as well as environmental compliance drivers related tofleet services. Thorough knowledge of key Fleet processes.Experience leading, inspiring and motivating an operational team of skilled technical employees.
Capability Requirements: Analytical Thinking: Sees multiple dependencies, identifying several likely causes or consequences of technical and operational problems. Team Leadership: Promotes team effectiveness and safe team working environment by soliciting input from team members, communicating expectations of job performance and required technical capabilities and delegating responsibilities while providing the necessary guidance and supervision. Demands high operational and technical standards and makes the consequences of non-performance clear. Drive for Results: Sets and achieves targets for all workload with the overarching goal of improved utilization and performance within fiscal boundaries for National Grid’s fleet. Anticipates, recognizes and proactively addresses potential technical and operational issues with National Grid’s fleet.
