Description: Description About the Position: Provide leadership and guidance to Contract Management NE team and key stakeholders to ensure adherence to the Complex Capital Delivery process, highest standards of health, safety, environmental, security and quality. Key role as manger to the NE Contract Management and Adminstration team is to manage contract lifecycle of engineering, gas construction, LNG, CNG, and ancillary resources for National Grid Gas Distribution and Transmission Portfolio(s) delivering value to the business and our customers with safe and compliant contracted resources.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Develop and manage value added commercial and contractual vendor relationships which ensure the delivery of construction and maintenance work within the agreed timelines, cost schedules, quality and safety standards within a risk profile that fully supports operating to the highest SHES standards to ensure company goals are met and the construction program delivery is consistent with company objectives, strategies and policies. Collaborate with the functional leads and managers of Project Management, Distribution Construction, Complex Construction, Engineering, and Procurement to support projects and operations on developing strategies for new contract initiatives, maintenance of current contracts, annual reviews with contractors, resolving and negotiation of contractor issues Manage 8 to 15 contract coordinators, administrators and specialists. Meet goals and objectives as set forth by leadership in Complex Capital Delivery Ability to deliver on tactical challenges of shifting needs for critical resources and maintain strategic focus on the long term goals for Contract Management. Lead during times of organizational change and ambiguity. Lead team to champion bid events for internal business stakeholders, translates business needs to contract language to deliver on annual plan for construction resources. Responsible for oversight of administration of contract resources, including monitoring spend, reporting accruals, work order processing and timely payment of invoices, Lead initiatives to implement strategies of best practice; drive consistency across contracts, influence culture change in Gas Support Contracting oversight and management - wholesale overhaul of contracts to bring them up to par with best practices Manage utilizing metrics and Key Performance indicators. Establish programs of efficiency in contracting, setting goals and expectations for service delivery to stakeholders and continual improvement. Problems solve, work collaboratively with business stakeholders, contribute to the identification and formulation of strategic objectives to drive change and innovation.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Experience with managing relationships with vendors, contractors, and regulatory bodies Demonstrates strong negotiating and influencing skills Strong interpersonal and communication skills, capable of leading and influencing teams; Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills including human resource management, negotiation and communications. Possesses the ability to guide people affected by a decisions know what’s happening and is able to clearly articulate reasons for a decision Considerable proven contract management experience in utility or construction management preferably utilizing Capability Maturity Model best practices 10 - 15 years of directly applicable construction contracting experience or lesser years of experience if possessing law degree and legal background. Demonstrates deep understanding of the issues impacting the energy industry sector and understanding of the operations of the gas business including Operations and Engineering Consistently adapts the content & style of a message, based on an understanding of the climate and culture of a particular group and what will produce the best response Ability to implement analytical techniques in measurement of process and contractor performance Expert level knowledge and skills in interpreting contract terms, negotiating and managing contractors to the terms, expertise in written and oral communication, able to communicate and present to all levels of the organization Position requires high level competencies in financial analysis, task scheduling, financial and schedule forecasting, and analytics Experience of managing and integrating the work of a functional discipline and demonstrates the ability to provide direction, the appropriate structure and effective resourcing to enable colleagues to perform at their best. Demonstrates the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities; organized, detail oriented, able to make independent decisions with high degree of confidence Demonstrates the ability to interpret information and analyse relationships among several parts of a problem or situation in order to clearly articulate the findings and anticipates obstacles and thinks ahead about next steps. Demonstrates competency in conflict resolution, negotiations and reporting. Understands theory behind policies and processes and demonstrates the ability to challenge existing processes and ways of working e.g. taking action to avoid future crisis or create opportunities to improve existing practices. Bachelor’s degree required. Masters level in engineering and/or a business or legal discipline preferred. Minimum of 7 - 10 years post-graduation experience in a number of roles requiring successful management of contracts, change, involvement in strategic planning and budgetary monitoring and control is preferred. Self-managed, decisive and able to prioritize, organized and articulate, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, SharePoint, Microsoft Project and Primavera P6 (optional but desired). Further skills that would be a plus are earned value management, EVMS, certifications in contract management, project management, JD, other relevant disciplines.
