Recently expanded, the Pressure Regulation Engineering (PRE) Department provides consistent, risk-based asset management of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) assets in addition to managing assets for 1,800 Pressure Regulating stations. Our team culture is self-directed and empowered. PRE team members have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, interacting broadly with various internal stakeholders. PRE develops long and short term investment plans for LNG, CNG and Pressure Regulation assets, providing an energy asset roadmap towards a reliable and sustainable future. This position creates the strategy and provides the leadership for the a group of engineers to review that and manage the integrity of National Grid's take stations, transmission regulator stations, and LNG transmission piping. This position develops the IMP (Integrity Management) program in accordance with Federal and State rules and regulations. It also administers the capital program for re-establishing the Maximum Allowable Working Pressure (MAOP) of in service transmission piping lacking proper documentation. The key objective of this position is to ensure that National Grids stations operating at transmission pressure meet the PHMSA guidelines for safe and reliable operation of transmission assets. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): Goals - Develop asset plans and strategy to assess over 300 transmission pressure regulating stations as well as 92 take stations to determine where gaps exist in records - Develop plans to close record gaps - Develop capital plans to replace or upgrade stations in order to meet PHMSA proposed rules for traceable, verifiable and complete record management. - Collaborate with other sponsors to ensure capital investments take into consideration other improvements and support the long term strategy for these assets. - Translate IMP program requirements into clearly defined business cases, and budgets Strategy - Direct and deliver a range of engineering services, consultants, and internal resources to enable capital improvements, mitigate system integrity damage, substandard conditions, and meet the required PHMSA guidelines.
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited engineering school. Professional experience will determine appropriate engineering position. Minimum of six (6) years relevant engineering experience in piping, materials, quality control, and materials testing Preferred knowledge of current trends within the industry and developments in legislation or regulation related to PHMSA Pipeline rules, 49CFR192 DOT Pipeline Codes, ASME/ANSI B31.8 Code. Preferred knowledge of National Grid's business operations, company policies and practices Must have a valid driver's license with safe driving history. Capability Requirements: Leadership abilities including giving presentations to business leads, engineering, and senior management Travel to and from various National Grid facilities in Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously. Ability to gain support of colleagues during meetings, provide decisions, and make recommendations to designers in order to meet corporate goals for asset integrity and safety. Adapts approach and considers what is important to the audience and tailors message accordingly when presenting Actively builds and maintains a network of relationships, outside normal business contacts. Takes personal responsibility for correcting problems promptly Ability to develop clear concise project scopes and communicate with other departments in order to achieve results. Proactively makes changes to improve performance, efficiency and effectiveness of processes Challenges existing engineering procedures and highlights areas for improvement. Possesses positive expectations for team members and expresses regard for them. Is receptive to change and is willing to change ideas or opinions based on new information or contrary evidence.
