About the Position

You will provide exceptional teaching in mechanical engineering within the Bachelor of Engineering and contribute to outstanding fundamental and applied research in mechanical engineering.  Expertise in solid mechanics or advanced manufacturing will be highly valued.

You will be part of the Mechanical Systems and Asset Management within the School of Chemistry, Physics and Mechanical Engineering, and will contribute to one or more of the University Research Strengths in Computational modelling and simulation science or Materials Science and Engineering.

You will play a key role within the teaching and research programs of the School. There are outstanding opportunities for collaboration with internationally renowned researchers in the School, and more broadly across the Faculty, including 2 Laureate Fellows in the School, and other award winning Professors in Engineering.

You report to the Head, School of Chemistry, Physics and Mechanical Engineering for supervision, workload management, and for Performance, Planning and Review (PPR).

 

Key responsibilities include:[JM1] 

  • You will contribute to, and develop, innovative teaching material within the mechanical engineering major of the Engineering degree

 

  • You will undertake high quality research, including quality research publications and generation of research funding, within the key research strengths of QUT

 

  • You will develop leadership capability, and make a valued contribution to leadership within the school

 

  • You will undertake Administrative functions associated with teaching including unit coordination, marking, assessment and supervision
  • You will implement and administer University policy within the Faculty with respect to equitable access to education and workplace health and safety.

 

To be appointed as a Lecturer the successful applicant must meet the position classification standards outlined in the QUT Enterprise Agreement (Academic Staff).

Requirements

Selection Criteria

  1. You will have completed a PhD in a relevant discipline.
  2. You will be able to demonstrate a proven track record of high quality research, evidenced by outstanding publications, with evidence of experience and commitment to the generation of research income, and demonstrating capability to grow an independent research profile.
  3. You will have Teaching experience at a University level, with evidence of either formal teaching qualifications, high quality teaching materials or positive student feedback.
  4. You will have a demonstrated ability to leverage and lead with digital technologies to drive excellent teaching outcomes, and in particular to use technology to facilitate and enrich learning environments, connectivity and collaboration.
  5. You will be a future-focussed thinker, with an ability to embrace and participate in change.
  6. You will be able to demonstrate your capacity to build and maintain relationships across students, colleagues, industry, government and professionals which extend practice and realise new opportunities, both domestically and internationally.
