Job Title:Lean Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement Department Manager

The Business Excellence Center is responsible for providing leadership and support to establish and maintain a continuous improvement program and focus for all Sandia activities. We are looking for a Lean Six Sigma (LSS) / Continuous Improvement Department Manager to deploy and improve LSS tools, training and processes across Sandia as well as establish and steward Sandia?s continuous improvement programs. LSS is a continuous improvement methodology that focuses on eliminating waste and creating best value for the customer.

We are looking to build and broaden our historical approach to LSS such that we make it standard that everyone in our Labs has a high-level/foundational understanding of LSS principles. Our goal is to create an environment where we all personally make and are expected to make small continuous improvements to our work and work environment.

Additionally, we are looking develop and deploy a consistent, thoughtful approach to strategic cross-cutting improvements that are effectively prioritized, sequenced, and championed for successful implementation.

In order to develop and lead the LSS team, we need an experienced professional who can manage this department and lead the effort to transform how work is accomplished across the organization. This will include partnering with management across the labs, effectively engaging and aligning Sandia?s lean experts (Green and Black Belts), and partnering with Honeywell and other industry leaders.

Major responsibilities of this role will include:

+ Leading the team to improve and maintain the infrastructure, tools, templates and processes required for Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement across the Labs.
+ Establish and steward Sandia?s continuous improvement programs with two primary paths: 1) local-level improvements, and 2) cross-cutting strategic improvements. Including providing training, tools, mentoring, coaching, and infrastructure for local-level improvements as well as managing the process and tools for prioritizing, sequencing, tracking, and managing strategic improvements (e.g., Operational Innovation System, Labs Operating Rhythm, etc.).
+ Drive a cultural change towards a continuous improvement mentality that encourages and enables every Member of the Workforce to make small, ongoing continuous improvements to his/her work and work environment.
+ Guide the development of metrics of the health of Sandia?s continuous improvement program and systematically lead performance improvements (e.g., volume and impact of continuous improvement activities across the Lab).
+ Lead the effort to engage, equip, and align Sandia?s lean experts (Green and Black Belts) as well as build the next generation of lean experts.
+ Strengthen management and leadership?s understanding of continuous improvement processes and behaviors.
+ Partner with the Lab Operating System core team to ensure a successful rollout of all of its associated elements.
+ Work closely with Honeywell counterparts and other industry experts to build a world class continuous improvement program

Required:



+ Requires a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate in relevant business or STEM discipline.
+ Eight or more years of relevant experience.
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a required DOE Q-level security clearance.

Desired:

+ Two or more years of demonstrated leadership experience.
+ Experience with and understanding of lean management and six sigma tools.
+ Demonstrated success in mentoring and developing staff and developing effective working relationships with peers.
+ Demonstrated ability to lead change initiatives and drive process excellence, including an ability to optimize processes from end-to-end.
+ A strong analytical foundation.
+ Lean and/or Six Sigma Black Belt certification or other relevant certification (e.g., project management certification).
+ The successful candidate must be a team player, have strong interpersonal skills, and have a demonstrated record of driving results.

Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
