Pratt and Whitney is a worldwide leader in the development and production of gas turbine engines. This position is within the Systems Engineering and Validation (SEV) group. SEV is responsible for the validation of development military and commercial jet engines at its multiple test facilities. These engines are subsequently produced for use in a variety of government and commercial applications including the F35 Joint Strike Fighter, F22 Raptor, Bombardier C-Series, Airbus, Irkut, Embraer and Mitsubishi jet applications.

Systems Engineering – Validation (SEV) is looking for a motivated, high energy individual to ensure Facility Control System readiness in support of military and commercial development engine and rig testing. SEV is responsible for the Validation of development jet engines and engine components at its multiple test facilities.

The Test Organization Cell within SEV performs a wide variety of technical tasks in support of Engine Instrumentation, Engine Control Integration/Interfacing and Test Facility/Special Test Equipment (STE) readiness for development and production testing. In addition, support is provided in Facility and Special Test Equipment Design, Implementation, and continued functional support ranging from troubleshooting/maintenance/upgrades. Additional tasks include operation of the thermal paint lab and support of Test Prep where STE is assembled, prepared and shipped around the world to support testing.

Tasks include consultation with engineering and customer groups to establish requirements, mechanical and electrical installations, troubleshooting and calibration of devices in the test facility or lab, and operation of facility control systems during validation testing. This position involves a high degree of interaction across multi-functional groups within SEV and P&W, requiring effective verbal and written communication skills. A strong emphasis is placed on dedication, innovation, resourcefulness and attention to detail.

This organization supports testing and field operations across multiple company and customer sites throughout the US and the world. Significant overtime and travel opportunities will be available.
Qualifications Position requires solid understanding and use of the principles of electronics, computer systems, computer programming, and instrumentation devices (temperature, pressure, vibration, and strain sensors).

Strong team oriented individual with solid written and verbal communication skills as well as proficiency in MS Office and other related computer programs required.

Candidate’s knowledge of instrumentation types and sensor applications in the aerospace industry is desirable. Experience in sensor wiring, terminations, egress, signal conditioning and mechanical and electrical control system operation and troubleshooting is strongly preferred. Sensor types include but not limited to pressure transducers, thermocouples, proximity and blade positioning optical measurement equipment.

Successful candidates will have a good balance between mechanical and electrical aptitude.

Additional Comments
This position requires individual to work in a variety of conditions, both indoor and out. Some tasks, such as installation and maintenance of instrumentation involve climbing ladders and working at heights over 10 feet above ground. Some jobs necessitate the use of small hand tools, such as wrenches, screwdrivers, wire cutters and soldering irons. This is a 1st shift position with weekend overtime frequently scheduled.
Education Candidate must be a High School graduate with a minimum of two years of supplemental technical course work in electronics, avionics, software programming or electrical systems, preferred. In lieu of 2 year degree, sufficient number of years of experience in the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of instrumentation, electronic systems, software controls systems, including electrical hardware and software systems is required. This may include equivalent military experience.

Associates degree in Computer Science/Software/Electronics/Engineering is desirable with 3-5 years of experience.
