Lead Mechanic, working under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, will install, repair and maintain facility machinery, structures, and equipment according to layout plans, blueprints and manufacturers specifications using hand tools, power tools, shop tools and precision measuring and testing instruments.  The Lead Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for coordinating and distributing work assignments with other members of the Maintenance Department.  The Lead Mechanic will be responsible for ensuring the work performed in the Maintenance Department is properly documented including updating equipment inspection sheets, outage documents, Maximo corrective and preventative maintenance work orders.  The Lead Mechanic will be capable of understanding and utilizing preventative maintenance tools and information such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, laser alignment and balancing equipment.  The Lead Mechanic will be capable of specifying, pricing and ordering tools, spare parts, hardware, pipe, fittings, valves, gaskets, packing and all other consumable items spare parts used to maintain the facility and equipment.
 
As a welder, the welder will perform all types of welding such as electric stick, MIG, TIG and Oxy-Acetylene.  The ability to surface harden, hard-face, cutting and brazing is required.  A thorough knowledge of loads and hoisting and rigging equipment is required.  The Lead Mechanic must be capable of working at high elevations. The Lead Mechanic must be capable of operating mobile equipment such as front end loaders, excavators, MiJack cranes, forklifts, and high lifts.  Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.  Complies with all health and safety policies, procedures, practices, and regulations.

Electrical experience preferred.


The position requires at least (3) years experience in all phases of equipment maintenance in an industrial environment. A High School Education, and Formal Technical or Apprentice Training is required.
