The duties of the Shift Lead Equipment Operator include the safe and efficient operation of all equipment associated with the Residue System, Ferrous system, and Nonferrous recovery system including the movement of all material throughout the Facility. Responsibilities consist of the day to day scheduling of the Equipment Operators' workload. That is to include PMs, corrective maintenance, Equipment Operations, scheduled and non-scheduled shutdowns, and residue loadouts of ash, Ferrous and Non-Ferrous material. More specifically: The position works under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor/Superintendent. The Lead Equipment Operator will be responsible for taking appropriate action on his own initiative to prevent equipment damage and conduct a daily detailed walk down of all Residue equipment, including belts, conveyors, ECS’s, and all associated auxiliary equipment. They are required to oversee the record keeping of required logs to be competed daily along with the timely completion of preventative and corrective maintenance. The individual will also be responsible for scheduling and changes made to the schedule when needed for scheduled shutdowns and major projects. They will assist the Maintenance Supervisor in special project support, including project oversight and ensuring all Company policies are followed. This individual must be familiar with all equipment and material associated with the Residue and MSW loading systems. Applicant must recognize that this position may be required to work overtime, nights, and incidental or prolonged hours resulting from unusual operating conditions and major overhauls.


HS Diploma or GED is required. Minimum 2 years of experience in operation of loaders and heavy equipment. Understanding and proficient in the operation of hand tools, oxy-acetylene cutting and rigging skills. Strong Mechanical aptitude and SMAW structural weld certification a plus. Ability to lift 50 pounds , climb ladders and work in overhead positions requiring harness and safety line.
