Sandia requires a long-term support staff resource to provide technical Telecommunications Infrastructure and Security Services. The position requires detailed knowledge and experience related to the protection of Sandia National Laboratories classified infrastructure and Telecommunications Security program.

Typical duties will include:

+ Operates and maintains LAN and WAN and all associated systems and network devices.
+ Performs software upgrades, which may include building utilities and tools from source code.
+ Performs hardware additions, changes, and upgrades.
+ Monitors the overall operation of the network and intervenes when bottlenecks or off-normal behavior occurs.


+ Requires high school diploma plus three or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Experience with classified processing, networking or any security-related field.
+ Experience in RF wireless technology including RF testing.
+ Experience in wired (copper and fiber optic) communication infrastructure systems including the duct-bank & manhole distribution systems.
+ Demonstrated ability to understand the scope of telecommunications work being performed, participate or lead diverse teams, communicate effectively across multiple organizations, and communicate effectively with team members and management.
+ Knowledge and experience in complying with DOE and National Policy requirements relative to TEMPEST & PDS infrastructure requirements for classified processing. This responsibility includes developing and implementing a technical testing process to monitor and certify that Sandia is meeting all program requirements.
+ Position requires an active DOE Q-level security clearance to start.


+ Experience with DOE orders, regulations, policies and procedures related to

- Telecommunications security and security assessments.
- Telecommunications experience, i.e. telephony, networking, RF/wireless, COMSEC, etc.
+ Operational knowledge of the Corporate Computing Facility (CCF), Main Distribution Rooms (MDRs), and Intermediate Distribution Rooms (IDRs) work areas.
+ Implement and contribute subject matter expertise on telecommunications security requirements (TEMPEST) throughout all SNL sites as mandated by applicable TEMPEST and PDS National Policy requirements.
+ Work with SNL staff to develop and write security plans, perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA), develop and implement Corrective Action Plans (CAPs).
+ Write and update site PTS and TEMPEST Plans and yearly Assessments.
+ Conduct fieldwork, assess and document wireless devices for approval. Maintain an active database of all wireless devices and DOE approvals in the Limited Area.
+ Contribute to the development, maintenance and dissemination of the SNL communications specifications, design guide and standard drawings.
+ Collaborate with other security topical area staff to document and standardize processes across sites.
+ Inspect and verify compliance of the RED/BLACK separation requirements.
+ Inspect and verify compliance of the SNL TEMPEST Assurance Program.
+ Survey for compliance, document and approve proposed corporate 802.11 Wi-Fi installations.
+ Document Cabling Plans of Top Secret networks.
+ Develop and maintain RF testing and documentation for all transmitters located in proximity to classified processing.
+ Review and document transmitter installations near classified for submittal to DOE as required by the Certified TEMPEST Technical Authority (CTTA).
+ Strong communication and demonstrated technical writing skills. (Be prepared to provide written examples.).
+ Strong teaming and interpersonal skills. Mentor and train team members when applicable.

The Corporate Computing Infrastructure & Support Department is responsible for Technical Computing operations, Secure Communications operations, Enterprise Computing production support and operations, Plant Infrastructure support, Wireless Radio operations, and Voice Mail(SVIS).

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance to start.

Position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e.g., DOD, to be considered for this position.
