Description: Description About the Position: The IT Disaster Recovery Lead Specialist is responsible for effective management and delivery of IT Service Continuity Management services underpinned by National Grid’s IS “ecosystem” partners, in conformance to policy, contract and regulatory requirements. National Grid runs several critical services that underpin business outcomes and efficient recovery and restoration in event of a disaster is paramount. The IT Disaster Recovery Lead Specialist will work with National Grid's Business Process Owners, eco-system suppliers and in-house IT support teams to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of the Infrastructure and Application Support services supporting restoration and recovery of the services. Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to): The IT Disaster Recovery Lead Specialist will ensure that industry leading practice and standards are followed, so that IT continuity and recovery provisions are appropriate to the needs of the business and robustly assured. This will involve: Ensuring that projects obtain clear IT continuity requirements and reflect these in SLAs Ensuring that projects develop and test appropriate recovery plans Identifying and reporting continuity risks Ensuring that partners produce and maintain application and infrastructure recovery plans Establishing, maintaining and executing an IT continuity testing schedule Overseeing disaster recovery tests and exercises Tracking and reporting on remedial and service improvement actions
Qualifications Knowledge & Experience Required: Educated to degree level in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. MBCI certification, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience ITIL Foundation, service manager (preferable) or, an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The business impact of any service failure and incidents in order to prioritise as needed The IS partner eco-system and the roles and responsibilities of each party across all stakeholders ITIL processes and how they have been implemented across National Grid IS Service Delivery Performing Business Impact Analysis and Risk Analysis for IT Systems Leading teams within support organisations with ability to promote team work across separate teams Effectively planning and managing activities across multiple communities Ability to work independently. Testing continuity and recovery plans Strong Vendor management skills Strong relationship management skills Experience with operationally and business critical systems. Audit and assurance Excellent communication and listening skills.
