We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Clerical Union Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Attend meetings and take meeting notes
+ Update databases
+ Perform a variety of administrative duties including copying, scanning, ordering supplies, stocking, inventory, locate property
+ Assist with other clerical tasks
+ Support light activity level work in support of test operations

This position supports department personnel located in a Sandia Technical Area. There is no public transportation available to the location of the Technical Area. Student must have own transportation to access the worksite.

You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will be represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union (OPEIU), which requires monthly membership dues or agency fees. New hires into an OPEIU represented position will remain in the initial position for twelve (12) months before being eligible to be considered for other Sandia employment.

Additional Requirements:

+ Experience with Windows operating environment and Microsoft Office products
+ Experience or ability to learn operation of standard office equipment
+ Good verbal and written communication (grammar, spelling) skills
+ Willingness to work with a team or individually
+ Valid state driver's license for driving Government vehicles
+ Demonstrated good work habits: Punctuality, responsiveness, thoroughness, following instructions, asking questions when uncertain, proactive, proper business etiquette

Desired:

+ Familiarity of business mathematics
+ Proficient in business writing
+ Advanced MS Office product skills (Excel spreadsheets, SharePoint, PowerPoint)



The Validation and Qualification Sciences Group (1530) is responsible for large-scale experimental activities in Tech Area III. The Mechanical Environments department (1534) is one of five departments within 1530 with responsibility for developing and performing experiments to provide information on the performance, safety, and reliability of nuclear weapons in mechanical environments and to acquire data to validate computational simulations of these events. The Mechanical Environments department operates a number of unique large-scale hazardous facilities including: the Aerial Cable Facility (ACF), the Rocket Sled Track Complex (RSTC) which includes the Large Explosive Firing Site and blast tubes, the Centrifuge Complex, the Mechanical Shock Facility and the Drop Tower/Water Impact Facility. 1534 is a significant contributor to Sandia's Nuclear Weapons Stewardship Mission, but also serves a broader community that includes all of the Sandia Management Units with a growing Work For Others portfolio.

Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted L-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
