We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Technical High School

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Understand technical and functional design requirements and work closely with the team to define and develop overall system requirements

+ Design, architect and implement applications with the goals of code reuse, test driven development \(TDD\), maintainability and security

+ Identify and track system deficiencies and also recommend and implement solutions

+ Team and effectively communicate by email in a fast\-paced and dynamic work environment

+ Regularly research state of the art programming languages, practices, standards, frameworks and various other technologies and share these discoveries with other members of the team

+ Proactively seek opportunities to broaden and deepen knowledge base and proficiencies

+ Seek and participate in development opportunities above and beyond the required levels and mentors those with less experience through informal means


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Attending a local high school

+ Enrolled full time, as defined by the school

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ Minimum 16 years of age

+ U\.S\. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Experience in HTML, CSS and Javasript

+ Experience with Linux

+ Understanding of relational databases

+ Understanding of Object Oriented design and concepts


+ Experience with Python

+ Experience with Unity

+ Experience with VR and AR

+ Experience with Ruby on Rails

+ Experience with iOS mobile development

+ Passion towards R&D technologies such as Computer Vision and Machine Learning

Department Description:

Science & Engineering Computing\-Environment Services Department, Org 9321, provides advanced capabilities and in\-depth support for a broad range of scientific and engineering computing services which include: high performance computing, remote graphics workstations, high performance storage, scientific and engineering applications, web development, software engineering, and continuous integration \(compilation and test\) environments\. The department designs, develops, manages, and provides cutting edge software and tools across multiple platforms used to create complex mission unique capabilities\. The department develops and implements new and emergent technologies and capabilities in support of mission and programmatic needs\. We partner with other organizations and teams across the Laboratories to deliver user environments, subject matter expert support, and application\-level software and tools to support the scientific and engineering communities\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
