We are seeking an Intern Summer \- R&D Undergrad



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Work with staff members to develop and test robotic and electromechanical systems

+ Design and implement sensors, mechatronic systems, embedded electronics or other similar hardware

+ Perform hardware and software tests and document results

+ Support project leaders with project management, organization, communication, and documentation

+ Support team in test planning, execution, and documentation

+ Work with technical experts in a team environment



Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:



+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited undergraduate program

+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ U\.S\. citizenship



Additional Requirements:



+ Currently pursuing a bachelors degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer science, or related science, engineering, or math field

+ Demonstrated willingness to learn and grow



Note: If you have not yet started your undergraduate program, please apply to a high school intern position\.



Desired:



+ GPA of at least 3\.5/4\.0

+ Experience with programming \(C, C\+\+, Matlab, and/or Java\)

+ Experience with sensor, hardware, and software integration

+ Experience with Microsoft Office products

+ Good oral and written communication skills

+ Ability to contribute in a team environment

+ Demonstrated initiative in dealing with challenging problems and implementing creative solutions



Department Description:



Organization 06533 Robotics and Counter\-Robotics R&D, specializes in robotics, unmanned aerial systems \(UAS\), advanced controls, miniature mechanical design and fabrication, electronics, cybernetic systems, sensor systems and computer vision systems\. The department established and maintains responsibility for several FAA Certificates of Authorization \(COA\) for unmanned aerial systems\. The department conducts both basic research and applications development of robotic systems producing numerous patents and deployment of systems\. The department conducts numerous active research, development and application projects for a variety of customers, both internal to Sandia and across the national security establishment, and collaborates heavily with partners across Sandia\. The department is one of three in the High Consequence Automation and Robotics Group within the Weapon and Force Protection Center\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
