We are seeking an Intern Summer - Technical Grad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Help staff with testing, data collection, analysis, documentation
+ Provide support for ongoing R&D projects within the department
+ Work on electrical or optical microsystems and components
+ Scripting and programming

It is expected that a significant amount time will be spent in test labs working with electrical test equipment.

Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ Pursuing a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
+ Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills
+ Demonstrated ability to team well with others
+ Ability to obtain a DOE L-level Clearance

Desired:

+ 3.5 cumulative GPA is desired
+ Experience with MATLAB
+ Experience with LabView
+ Experience scripting and/or programming
+ Experience working with electrical test equipment
+ Experience with 3D field solving software, RF design software, or RF electrical testing



The RF & Opto Microsystems department performs research, design, modeling, characterization, and qualification of RF and Optical Microsystems. We have a focus on RF and optical Microsystems, as well as specialty wireless sensors. We have capabilities for developing between prototypes to fully qualified hardware. We provide unique solutions to our customers in nuclear weapons, DoD, non-proliferation agencies, and subsystem departments (SAR, surety, & ISR). Our research interest include advanced RF sensors and communication devices unique to national security applications.

Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted L-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
