We are seeking an Intern Summer \- R&D Undergrad



The Military Systems Engineering Department is looking for interns to fulfill needs in performing systems engineering of specific weapon system concepts\. This position is expected to last throughout the summer and students will return to their respective schools after the internship is complete\.



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Work with technical team members to implement and capture specific design steps along the engineering process

+ Support modeling and artifact creation for concept development, requirements definition and analysis, system descriptions, trade studies, design analysis, and system test planning and verification



Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:



+ Currently attending and enrolled full time \(or scheduled to graduate in the spring\) in an accredited undergraduate program

+ Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ U\.S\. citizenship



Additional Requirements:



+ Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant engineering discipline: Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, Computer, or Systems Engineering, Computer Systems, Management Information Systems

+ Experience with or education in engineering design \(taking an idea from concept through demonstration\)



Note: If you have not yet started your undergraduate program, please apply to a high school intern position\.



Desired:



+ Experience or formal training performing systems engineering work: models\-based systems engineering, requirements development, functional architecture development, physical architecture development, performance verification, design of experiments

+ Experience with models\-based systems engineering tools using the SysML language \(such as Genesys, Magic Draw, Innoslate, etc\.\)

+ Experience with requirements development, capture, and tracking

+ Experience with configuration management processes and tools

+ Experience with functional and physical architecture creation

+ Familiarity with aerospace systems design \(missiles, flight vehicles, missile defense systems\)



Department Description:



The Military Systems Engineering department applies interdisciplinary systems engineering principles and approaches to transform a set of customer needs into a solution that meets those needs with verifiable, traceable, and testable requirements\. The team accomplishes this by overseeing the engineering design, development, and demonstration of complex military systems\. Methods used are Model\-Based Systems Engineering \(MBSE\), Concept of Operations Development, Requirements Analysis and Definition, System Design Descriptions, Trade Studies, Design Analysis, Interface Design & Assessment, Integrated System Test Planning, System Verification & Validation, and Configuration Management\.

Security Clearance:



Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted L\-level security clearance\.
