We are seeking an Intern Summer \- Technical High School



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Work in a dynamic research and production environment and will be part of the Computer Integrated Manufacturing \(CIM\) team that interfaces directly with customers

+ Provide data related to wafer fabrication and production metrics

+ Work with a manufacturing execution system \(MES\) that focuses on wafer fabrication operations work planning and execution



It is expected that candidate bring interest in technologies and science in the fields of physics, chemistry, manufacturing and materials\.



Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:



+ Attending a local high school or living with a parent or legal guardian near the work site if under 18 years of age

+ Enrolled full time, as defined by the school

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3\.0/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ Minimum 16 years of age

+ U\.S\. citizenship

Department Description:



The MESA Fabrication Operations Department, develops and maintains core semiconductor processing capabilities that enable our customers to build differentiating Microsystems products\. Two unique facilities are co\-located within the 64,900 square foot MESAfab complex including: \(1\) a 11,900 square foot Class 1 Silicon Fab for 6\-inch silicon wafer processing and \(2\) a 14,900 square foot Class 10/Class 100 MicroFab for compound semiconductor processing and silicon wafer post\-processing\. The Silicon Fab has processing expertise in CMOS and MEMS technologies\. Over 150 equipment sets are maintained, supported and operated 24 hours per day, 5 days a week \(3 shifts\)\. Processing and maintenance expertise are staffed on all 3 shifts\. We offer unique prototyping capabilities and are capable of producing full flow production lots as well as performing flexible process development\. The MicroFab has expertise in compound semiconductor processing\. All of the MicroFab equipment \(180 tools\) are maintained and supported by our in\-house maintenance and technical staff\. We are capable of producing highly customized, low\-volume production or prototyping devices and have flexible processing capabilities\. As one of 3 operations departments in 5240, 5246 has primary responsibility for Wet Etch, Dry Etch, Release Dry Coat, Plating, Computer Integrated Manufacturing, and Planning and Projects\.

Security Clearance:



This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.



Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment\.



If hired without a clearance, and one subsequently becomes required or you bid on positions that require a DOE\-granted security clearance, a pre\-processing background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications may be conducted prior to a required federal background investigation\. Applicants for DOE\-granted security clearances must be U\.S\. citizens and be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate DOE security clearance as required for the position\.
