We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Business Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Provide support with assignments within the Center 4200 Security and Emergency
+ Management Work in a team environment, but be able to make progress with limited day-to-day direction
+ Security process management, data organization and manipulation, customer relations, action plan development

Appropriate tasks will be defined to match the student's skills and interests, as well as to challenge the student to grow. The ideal student is a confident and motivated learner willing to seek unique solutions to difficult problems on their own. This position is expected to continue for one (1) semester with the possibility that the student may retained for a second semester, if business needs/funding allows.


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.15/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship


+ Experience developing and issuing mass communication
+ Ability to be self-directed
+ Experience in audits, inventory, or assessments
+ Strong organizational and critical thinking skills
+ Ability to conduct independent research and draft conclusions/recommendations
+ Ability to work with a diverse customer base
+ Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

Organization 4250 includes the Information Security (4254) department; responsible for the Classified Matter Protection & Control (CMPC) program, Operations Security (OPSEC). This department is also the matrixed manager for Security and Emergency Management Training. Material Control & Accountability (4258) is responsible for measurements and accountability of special nuclear materials through the material control and accountability team. The Classification Office (4255) at Sandia National Laboratories has the responsibility for implementing DOE's Classification and Unclassified Controlled Nuclear Information (UCNI) programs at Sandia/New Mexico. Assists in the identification of Unclassified Controlled Information (UCI), performs classification reviews, assist Derivative Classifiers (DCs) and staff in making classification determinations, develops training and awareness briefings for members of the work force, designates and trains DCs and UCNI reviewing officials, and develops classification guidance in coordination with DOE, NNSA and laboratory programs as necessary. The department also supports DOE, NNSA, and the Nuclear Weapon Complex in the implementation of the classification program, development of classification guidance and the resolution of classification issues.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted security clearance.

Sandia will conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U.S. Air Force background screen for access to the work site. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment.

If hired without a clearance, and one subsequently becomes required or you bid on positions that require a DOE-granted security clearance, a pre-processing background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications may be conducted prior to a required federal background investigation. Applicants for DOE-granted security clearances must be U.S. citizens and be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate DOE security clearance as required for the position.
