We are seeking an Intern Year Round \- Clerical Union Undergrad



On any given day, you may be called on to:



+ Support a team of administrative assistants in performing secretarial and clerical work for the organization, managers and staff\.

+ Utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook in daily operations

+ Assist in ordering office supplies, preparing a variety of documents, including correspondence\. Assist in originating routine correspondence, editing and formatting documents and processing paperwork in accordance with SNL policies and procedures

+ Assist in setting up file systems for all documents and maintaining all programmatic and administrative records and files

+ Assist in setting up databases, entering and maintaining data and responding to request for information

+ Assist in making domestic and foreign travel for managers and staff

+ Assist in coordination and scheduling meetings using Outlook, preparing and distributing meeting minutes\. Assist in telephone communication and receiving visitors, taking messages or scheduling appointments

+ Assist in maintaining manager's schedules as requested

+ Assist in database and general information capture and display tasks\. Serve as information resource to managers and staff



Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:



+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program

+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 2\.5/4\.0

+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer

+ U\.S\. citizenship



A job placement assessment \(JPA\) will be required as part of the screening for this position\. This JPA will evaluate your ability to meet the physical requirements of this job\.



As a condition of employment, the selected candidate will be represented by the Office and Professional Employees International Union \(OPEIU\), which requires monthly membership dues or agency fees\. New hires into an OPEIU represented position will remain in the initial position for twelve \(12\) months before being eligible to be considered for other Sandia employment\.

+ General knowledge and good understanding of a suite of software, including Microsoft Office



Desired:



+ Favorable consideration will be given for experience in marketing, publishing, graphic and web design and related public relations or technical editing skills



Department Description:



The Geoscience Research and Applications Department studies fundamental aspects of earth science and develops technical solutions for geoscience\-related problems including radioactive waste disposal, carbon sequestration, water treatment, enhanced oil recovery, and contaminant transport\.

Security Clearance:



This position does not currently require a Department of Energy \(DOE\)\-granted security clearance\.



Sandia will conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications\. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U\.S\. Air Force background screen for access to the work site\. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause access to be denied or terminated, rendering the inability to perform the duties assigned and resulting in termination of employment\.



If hired without a clearance, and one subsequently becomes required or you bid on positions that require a DOE\-granted security clearance, a pre\-processing background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications may be conducted prior to a required federal background investigation\. Applicants for DOE\-granted security clearances must be U\.S\. citizens and be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate DOE security clearance as required for the position\.
