Job Title:Intern - Facilities and Emergency Management Technical Undergrad Year Round


We are seeking an Intern Year Round - Technical Undergrad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Provide support on assignments within the Center 4722 Project and Construction Management Department on Facilities Type Project work
+ Directly support Project Managers and Construction Managers
+ Work in a project team environment and able to work with Construction Contractors and Architects/ Engineers with clear communication on deliverable expectations
+ Review construction schedules, request for information and submittals by the contractor with the support of a Construction Manager
+ Communicate with customers on a regular basis on status of schedule on facilities deliverable
+ Help to develop or deploy processes that improve Project and Construction Management deliverables supporting the Project Manager and Construction Manager
+ Manage, organize and manipulate data on metrics and deliverables of facilities projects


You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ A minimum of 2 years pursuing a career in science or engineering (especially Construction Management or Engineering)


+ Ability to research and develop procedures that will be used to enhance existing processes
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Capable of developing flow charts, graphs, presentations, etc. from extracted data to convey departmental goals and objectives
+ Eagerness to collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team environment
+ Strong initiative to learn construction processes, in an office and field environment
+ Experience in reading plans for Facilities or Infrastructure
+ Experience with trouble-shooting systems, equipment, projects, etc. and developing solutions to overcome obstacles
+ Comfortable communicating with craftsman and construction contractors in the field and office environments
+ A strong interest in pursuing a career in science or engineering (especially Construction Management or Engineering), demonstrated by choice of academic major and/or coursework

Provides construction services for line customers and engineering for Facilities Management & Operations Center.

Security Clearance:

This position does not currently require a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted security clearance.

Sandia will conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record checks, and employment and education verifications. Further, employees in New Mexico must pass a U.S. Air Force background screen for access to the work site.
