We are seeking an Intern Summer - R&D Grad

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support the development, analysis and testing of advanced aerospace systems
+ Conduct a variety of aerospace systems analysis including using low and medium fidelity aero-prediction codes, building and analyzing the performance of 3DOF and 6DOF flight simulations for flight system performance and flight safety analysis
+ Perform standalone first order analysis
+ Assist with the development and maintenance of Sandia aerospace tools

Required:



You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements:

+ Earned bachelor's degree
+ Currently attending and enrolled full time (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited science, engineering, or math graduate program
+ Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
+ Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer
+ U.S. citizenship

Additional Requirements:

+ B.S. degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or similar degree
+ Coursework in flight dynamics and aerodynamics
+ Ability to program in Matlab, C, and Python

Desired:

+ Programing experience with C++
+ Simulink experience
+ 6DOF simulation experience
+ TAOS simulation
+ Trajectory optimization
+ Dakota, GPOPS, or DIDO experience
+ MDOA methods



The Aerospace Systems Analysis Department provides applied aerodynamics and flight dynamics analysis, trajectory simulations, range safety analysis, range operations support, and mechanical design for a wide range of flight systems that fly in the subsonic through hypersonic regimes. The Department also explores advanced concepts for new military and non-military applications of flight systems. Our staff members are integral flight test project team members active in all aspects of vehicle design, mission planning, and post-test analysis. Our primary mission supports U.S. Department of Energy defense programs, and aerospace flight systems projects funded through the U.S. Department of Defense, DARPA, NASA, and industry.

Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE)-granted L-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
