As a Human Machine Interaction researcher, you will help define and drive the future of complex Human Machine Systems. You will interface with United Technologies Research Center (UTRC) Program Offices and United Technologies Corporation (UTC) Business Units to identify business needs, help formulate research strategy, and inspire teams to push boundaries. You will communicate with internal and external customers to seek out opportunities and secure funding to pursue forward-thinking research.

You are a dynamic, creative, and adaptive individual who will combine skills in experimental design, statistical analysis, and programming to advance Human Machine Interactions. As a key member of the HMI team, you work with stakeholders across functions and levels. You solve challenging problems and empower the team to move forward by developing metrics, measuring results and integrating new methodologies into existing systems. You thrive in multidisciplinary, diverse team settings focused on a user-centric approach to create value.


Qualification: Other qualifications include:
  • Strong analytical skills for quantitative analysis
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and technical report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex concepts across different audiences
  • Strong understanding of state of the art UI design tools, methodologies, and best practices
  • Strong background in research design and methodology

Preferred:

  • Published research
  • Experience in presenting research findings at professional conferences
  • Experience in proposal and/or grant applications
  • Field data collection experience
  • Knowledgeable in inferential statistics and packages such as R


Education: M.S. in Industrial Design or Engineering, Industrial/Organizational/ Behavioral/Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Computer Science or Engineering, or related field with at least five years post degree research experience.

The preferred candidate will have a Ph.D. in Industrial Design or Engineering, Industrial/Organizational/ Behavioral/Cognitive Psychology, Human Factors, Computer Science or Engineering, or related field. Three years of post degree research experience is a plus.
