Full-time Faculty, Computer Aided Design and Engineering Technologies

Division of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) & Education

MCCC/MTA Unit position

This position is a full-time, tenure track faculty position in the Engineering &Industrial Technology Department which offers a variety of courses in Advanced Manufacturing and Computer Aided Design. This faculty member will participate in the teaching, effective delivery and further development and enhancement of the departmental offerings, with particular emphasis on the Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology/Manufacturing and Pre-engineering curricula.  


  1. Teach Engineering and Industrial Technology courses in one or more of the following areas:  Advanced Manufacturing, Engineering Technology, Pre-Engineering, and Computer Aided Design as assigned in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  2. Utilize effective teaching strategies to maximize student retention and success, develop critical thinking skills, and support a learner-centered environment.
  3. Participate in the development, implementation and assessment of pedagogical methods that facilitate student understanding and retention of advanced manufacturing and engineering technology-related concepts.
  4. Participate in the development and effective delivery of new courses as well as in the evaluation and on-going revision of current departmental offerings.
  5. Assist in determining appropriate goals/objectives and outcomes for various advanced manufacturing and engineering technology courses.
  6. Observe all college and departmental computer laboratory requirements, and provide a safe and appropriate lecture and laboratory experience for all students.
  7. Work collaboratively with faculty and staff from other departments and disciplines.
  8. Provide academic advisement to traditional and nontraditional students.
  9. Participate in appropriate college service activities (e.g. committee membership, development of/enhancement to courses/programs and/or resources, program review, recruitment and retention activities).
  10. Participate in professional development opportunities to maintain expertise and infuse new methodologies into departmental offerings.
  11. Participate in the coordination of departmental courses and initiatives, as needed.
  12. Travel between campuses as needed to fulfill workload requirements.
  13. Perform other duties as assigned consistent with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. 

Additional Information:

SALARY: Anticipated salary range is $45,000 - $50,000 per year plus fringe benefits.  Actual salary will be commensurate with education and experience in accordance with the MCCC/MTA collective bargaining agreement.

STARTING DATE: September 1, 2018

  • Master's Degree in Engineering Technology or Advanced Manufacturing required; or a Master's degree in a related field with industry experience required.
  • Expertise in the area of Engineering Technology, Advanced Manufacturing, and/or Computer Aided Design required.
  • Recent teaching experience in Pre-Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Science, Advanced Manufacturing, and/or Computer Aided Design courses at the college level required; community college teaching experience preferred. 
  • Demonstrated ability to advise students using guided pathway tools toward degree and certificate completion.
  • Experience in developing and assessing student learning outcomes required.
  • Experience with the integration of technology, OER, student-oriented software, and multimedia formats in the development and delivery of course instruction preferred.
  • Experience in online and/or hybrid course development and teaching preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with creative and innovative instructional techniques to facilitate the student learning process preferred.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership and interpersonal connection with a student population that is highly diverse in academic preparation, cultural, socioeconomic, and ethnic backgrounds as well as physical and learning disabilities.
  • Commitment to the mission of the community college, to teaching excellence, and to the      maintenance and continuous improvement of high standards for student learning.
  • Candidates will be required to pass a CORI/SORI background check as a condition of employment.
