As a renowned leader in jet engines, Pratt & Whitney continually strives to maintain a world class safety record. The recent entry into service of the Geared Turbo Fan and F-135 engine families initiated the growth of our fleet by several thousand engines - to be produced in the near future. The Flight Safety team is seeking a motivated and impactful individual to aid in the assessment and management of flight safety related issues:
* Coordinate with P&W technical experts to identify engine event sequences that could hazard the aircraft, and manage these within the PW Safety Issue Management Process
* Actively contribute to a highly flexible & high performing team


Identify & Manage Aircraft Hazards
* monitor, identify & communicate engine field events with potential safety implications

* provide extensive internal coordination with appropriate P&W teams including Program Lead Engineers; Component Team leaders; Technical, Materials & Process experts; and Customer Technical Support.
* support the P&W safety issue management process with accurate issue documentation and active participation in recurring reviews
* develop detailed aircraft level event sequences leading to an aircraft safety event and their likelihood for safety risk assessment
* support Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) updates
* support accurate root cause determination; and when required, effective fleet management plans

Support the Safety Team
* provide technical leadership in your area of expertise to complement the safety team’s skill set of design, maintenance, risk analysis, and engine controls

* derive satisfaction from a direct influence on PW and Regulatory safety-related decision making
Qualification: Seven or more years experience with:
* aircraft turbine engine operation, design, or maintenance

The applicant must demonstrate prior:
* excellent report writing; exceptional attention to detail
* strong teamwork and results-oriented performance
* effective communication & listening
* technical issue resolutionusing rigorous root cause methodologies and/or material failure analysis

Preferred qualifications:
understanding of engine and aircraft continued airworthiness or certification requirements
experience working with NTSB (or equivalent regulatory agency), FAA, and incident investigation protocols
* subject matter expert in a related field

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering in any of:
* Mechanical
* Aeronautical
* Similar
