There is an opening for a Financial Analyst who has a passion for science and technology\. You will join a team that partners with scientists and engineers to deliver on important national security missions\. This position will be matrixed to support management and staff within the Computational Science and Analysis \(8750\) and Information Security Sciences \(8760\) groups\.


+ Provides finance support to projects and departments; interfaces with technical staff and managers

+ Develops and estimates costs for both project baseline and forecast

+ Oversees project or department spend, addresses budget concern with customers, and implements controls

+ Analyzes and reports financial information to inform decisions and organizational planning

+ Partners with Sandias finance and accounting organizations to understand and apply policy

+ Participates in required audits and maintains appropriate documentation

+ Supports proposals through requirements review and submission of business or financial input

+ Supports procurement planning including managing requisitions, accruals, and commitments\.

+ Resolve financial issues by applying analysis, judgement, and problem\-solving skills\.

+ May administer procurements using Sandia's credit card system\.


+ Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, and/or financial functions within an organization

+ Proficient in basic arithmetic and ability to interpret quantitative information

+ Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines

+ Ability to communicate with others and to solicit essential information

+ Organizational skills and ability to independently establish and negotiate priorities

+ Intermediate level skill in Microsoft Excel and experience using and manipulating pivot tables

+ Demonstrated knowledge of common office software and experience using financial systems

+ Exceptional interpersonal skills including ability to adapt style to situation or audience\.

+ Demonstrated ability to understand, interpret, organize, and communicate financial data to various levels of management and staff, including those who lack content familiarity\.


+ Requires high school diploma plus five or more years of directly related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience\. May have secondary education\.

+ Must be flexible to rotate to other assignments as programmatic priorities change\.


+ Bachelors degree in Business or relevant discipline

+ Defense or government industry experience

+ Active DOE security clearance

+ Experience using Oracle financials or similar applications

The Broader National Security \(8152\) Mission Partners Departments is responsible for providing matrixed business and project management expertise to the DHS and Defense Systems Center \(8700\)\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
