The Center for Design, Manufacturing and Materialsof the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Moscow, Russia) invites applications for 3 faculty positions in the area of ADVANCED MANUFACTURING:

1) Assistant Professor with 1-4 years’ experience in additive manufacturing or thermal spraying technology. The preferred starting date is August 2017.

2) Associate Professor with 4-6 years’ experience in additive manufacturing or thermal spraying technology. The preferred starting date is August 2017.

The Center seeks for exceptional candidates with knowledge in advanced manufacturing, optimization of the modern methods of additive manufacturing (3D printing of metals, ceramics, and polymers), laser sintering, materials characterization, or thermal spraying technology. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in manufacturing, materials science, mechanical engineering or a related area. The successful candidates will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-reviewed publications.

3) Assistant Professor with primary focus on robotics. The preferred starting date is August 2017.

The Center seeks for an exceptional candidate with knowledge in design and control of robots in manufacturing, soft robots, medical robots, and biocompatible robots, origami -based engineering, robots for space exploration contexts, advanced systems for robot fabrication, robotic sensing systems, micro-robots, and service robots. Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree (or equivalent) in robotics, control systems, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering or a related area. The successful candidate will provide evidence of high quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer-reviewed publications.

The Advanced Manufacturing Laboratory at CDMM consists of three main research facilities: Additive Manufacturing lab equipped with variety of 3D printing machines for metals, ceramics, and polymers, Thermal Spraying facility including variety of deposition technologies such as plasma spraying, HVOF, cold spraying, wire arc, and flame spraying, and Robotics lab equipped with several advanced multi axis robots. Several faculty, research scientists and graduate students at master's and doctoral levels are working on several projects in collaboration with industry.

The Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Skoltech) is a unique English-speaking international graduate research university in Moscow, Russia. Established in 2011 in collaboration with MIT, Skoltech advances scientific knowledge, educate global leaders in innovation and foster new technologies to address critical issues facing Russia and the world. Skoltech is an integral part of the Skolkovo Innovation Center that comprises a complete high-tech city with a number of international R&D centers and start-up incubators. Faculty duties at Skoltech include teaching at graduate level, student and innovation projects advising, and conducting research. All activities at Skoltech are carried out in the English language.

The mission of the Skoltech Center for Design, Manufacturing and Materials is to conduct research, education and innovation activities to improve the product and materials realization cycle to accelerate innovation for the benefit of society. Special emphasis is placed on advanced performance technologies for composite materials and structures, advanced manufacturing, computer aided design and engineering, computational materials design, micro- and nano- manufacturing. CDMM closely cooperates with the Russian industry and involves companies in the definition of plans, the development of programs, and the transfer of knowledge and know-how.
