The Mechanical Systems, Externals and Nacelles Module Center is looking for an Engineer for the Operational Engines Externals Structures Team focusing on Military Programs. The Externals organization is responsible for engine externals, engine mounts and engine build up (EBU) components, integrating these products with airframe.

Entry-level structures engineers will analyze, research, and develop metallic, non-metallic or composite structural materials for product design and operation. They will engage in mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical tests of their structural materials. Specific structural engineering specialties may include dynamics and loads, stability and stress fatigue, or thermal analysis. Entry-level structures engineers will participate in multi-discipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost and weight. The candidate will also plan and cover validation testing (engine & rig) and data-reduction.

Other duties include supporting production and in-service field investigations, as well as using Finite-element and classical methods to perform strength, stress/deflection, vibration, fatigue life, damage tolerance, containment, kinematic and optimization analyses. Entry-level structures engineers will be exposed to the world of materials and structural engineering. It is an exciting time at Pratt & Whitney!
