Job Title:ES&S Professional - Engineering Sciences (Experienced)

:

We are seeking an ES&S professional to support multiple departments within the Engineering Sciences Center (1500). You will be assigned to support one of the following five Groups within the Center: Thermal, Fluid, and Aero Sciences; Experimental Mechanics and Dynamics; Validation & Qualification; Computational Simulation; and Structural Mechanics R&A.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Support and advise management in the implementation of ES&S policies and procedures
+ Support ongoing ES&S assessments of operations that include small to intermediate-scale laboratory activities and large-scale field activities across Sandia?s Tech Area 1, Area 3, and other remote sites, as well as office-type work
+ Provide ES&S guidance for a diverse set of operational environments ranging from mechanical, thermal, chemical, explosive, and radiological
+ Work both as a member of the Center ES&S team supporting Center and Corporate safety initiatives, and as a member of technical work planning teams under the direction of R&D staff
+ Serve as a critical advocate for change and growth in our safety culture
+ Apply safety engineering expertise to the conduct of Activity-Level Work

Required:



+ Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline
+ 5 years? related experience
+ Experience with or education related to Federal/OSHA environment, safety and health (ES&H) requirements, policies, and procedures
+ Experience with or education related to safety & security requirements, policies, and procedures
+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance

Desired:

+ Strong orientation to and understanding of people and customer service
+ Creativity and skills needed to assist staff and management effectively and efficiently implement ES&H requirements and procedures
+ Good communication skills
+ Strong organizational skills
+ Experience working with a team-based and collaborative approach towards shared goals
+ Experience in an ES&H Coordinator role in industrial and/or research environments
+ Experience or training in accident/event investigation, including causal analysis
+ Experience with occurrence reporting and management processes
+ Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
+ Ability to team and collaborate with a wide variety of personnel, interacting in field and office locations
+ Ability to communicate to a range of levels encompassing contractors, technologists, staff and management, up to the ALD
+ Active DOE Q clearance

Security Clearance:


Position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) granted Q-level security clearance.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug testing, and a pre-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications.
