We seek a dedicated specialist with in- depth knowledge of air quality regulations, Title V permitting, emissions reporting, and federal/state/local air emissions. This individual will be responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, implementing, and maintaining environmental management systems and programs for air, solid waste and water regulatory requirements for the Camden, NJ facility.

Role Summary:

The Environmental Specialist, role is responsible for serving as an air quality subject matter expert.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include:

Responsibilities include the review and analysis of continuous emission monitoring systems data; agency report preparation and submittals; environmental permitting support for permit renewals and modifications including negotiating permit conditions to maximize operating flexibility; supervision of stack test program; maintenance of key environmental records and documents; residue testing; and functioning as the primary liaison with state and local regulatory agencies.


Title V

Managing Title V and synthetic minor air permit renewal processes for assets in responsible districts and overseeing consultants providing support for permit renewal application development to ensure permit flexibility and cost control.


Filing appropriate compliance reports with applicable permitting authorities on schedule as required and negotiating permit conditions during permit review and comment periods to maximize operating flexibility.

Compliance Resolution

Assisting in identifying, solving, and documenting compliance issues that may arise in the air quality compliance area, including procedure development and improvement.

Data Integrity and Analysis

 Working with facility staff, analyze voluminous compliance data, identify compliance trends, and propose local and systematic solutions to current and future compliance issues.

Regulatory Trend Updates

Monitoring regulatory changes affecting operations in the area(s) of responsibility and building relationships with appropriate agency personnel to anticipate and track emerging regulatory trends that may impact operations.  Improving overall existing environmental compliance programs, procedures and policies, recommending compliance software enhancements and integrating air quality compliance into overall company initiatives and efforts.

Air Compliance Testing

Coordinating with all required staff, attending and/or supervising air compliance testing efforts at operating facilities and preparing and submitting Notification of Compliance Status (NOCS) and other reports and amendments as required under the 40 CFR 63 National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants and 40 CFR 60 New Source Performance Standards requirements


This position involves tasks such as: performing environmental compliance assessments; documenting compliance status and making recommendations on corrective action required to achieve compliance; and providing guidance and training on managing compliance.

The successful candidate must have a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, environmental science, or equivalent field and a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the environmental permitting/compliance field, with a strong emphasis in Title V Air Quality Compliance.

A working knowledge of New Jersey and federal environmental regulations in air, waste, and water is desired.

The individual must have strong written and oral communication skills, an ability to work cooperatively within the regulatory framework, and strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office applications.
