We are seeking a Environmental Technical Professional to perform work as the Operations Supervisor \(OS\)\. The OS is responsible for providing oversight, authorization and work approval of all operations and field activities at the highly regulated non\-nuclear radioactive waste/material facilities\. Facilities include the Radioactive and Mixed Waste Management Facility \(RMWMF\) in TA\-III, and non\-nuclear storage bunkers at the Manzano Base\.

On any given day, you may be called on to:

+ Provide direction and leadership to contract staff to meet department goals\.

+ Ensure compliance with operational TWDs\.

+ Conduct daily Plan of Day meetings and document the proceedings\.

+ Evaluate performance, effectiveness, changes or modifications of the conduct of operations\.

+ Perform duties associated with radioactive waste collection, packaging and shipment to off\-site treatment and disposal facilities\.

+ Serve as Classified Administrative Specialist \(CAS\) and Material Balance Area \(MBA\) custodian\.

+ Ensure offsite Waste Acceptance Criterias are complied with\.

+ Ensure all waste is properly segregated and properly characterized by waste generators\.

+ Serve as Primary Emergency Coordinator\.

+ Perform the role of Lead Auditor as part of the departments auditor team\.

+ Perform the role of Sandia Delegated Representative on onsite contracts\.

+ Interface with Line waste generators\.

+ Approve legal documentation associated with waste/material shipments\.


+ B\.S\. degree in engineering or physical science plus five years of relevant experience; or a M\.S\. degree in Engineering or physical science plus three \(3\) years of relevant experience\.

+ Experience or knowledge with at least one of the following:

- Radiation protection/health physics

- Resource Conservation and Recovery Act \(RCRA\) and Toxic Substance Control Act \(TSCA\) regulations

- Radioactive and/or mixed waste\.

- Activity level work

- Work Planning and Controls \(WP&Cs\)

+ Active and ability to maintain a required US DOE Q security clearance\.


+ Radioactive waste/nuclear material management operational experience\.

+ Mixed Waste \(Rad/Hazardous\) management operational experience\.

+ Experience and knowledge in 10CFR 830, 10 CFR 835, 10 CFR 1910 and 1926, 49 CFR 170\-173, 40 CFR part 262, DOE Order 435\.1, DOE Order 414\.1\.

+ Familiarity with off\-site transportation, storage and disposal facilities \(TSDFs\) waste acceptance criteria \(WACs\) EnergySolutions, Nevada National Security Site \(NNSS\), Permafix

+ Operations and maintenance of waste processing facilities and resources\.

Department Description:

The Radioactive Waste/Nuclear Material Disposition Department provides cost\-effective disposal options for radioactive waste and excess nuclear materials\. The department operates several facilities and functions through a multidisciplinary project team and a performance\-based contract\. The activities are highly regulated as radiological activities may involve hazardous waste, classified information and items, and accountable fissile materials\. The department's objective is to reduce the legacy inventories of radioactive waste and materials while supporting the ongoing needs of the laboratories\.

Security Clearance:

Position requires a Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance to start\.

Position requires an active Department of Energy \(DOE\) granted Q\-level security clearance or active clearance with another US government agency, e\.g\., DOD, to be considered for this position\.

Sandia is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre\-employment drug testing, and a pre\-employment background review that includes personal reference checks, law enforcement record and credit checks, and employment and education verifications\.
